This report summarises the anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) measures in place in Japan as at the date of the on-site visit (29 October - 15 November 2019). It analyses the level of compliance with the FATF 40 Recommendations and the level of effectiveness of Japan s AML/CFT system, and provides recommendations on how the system could be strengthened. Key Findings a) Japan has a good understanding of the main elements of money laundering (ML) and terrorism financing (TF) risks, mainly based on the large number of assessments conducted.
