Purpose of Position Under the direction of the Preventative Maintenance Leader, the person in this position performs skilled work operating and maintaining audio-visual and computer equipment used in the internal inspection of sanitary sewer lines and customer service lines in addition to assisting with Preventative Maintenance programs. B. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Operate camera equipment to visually inspect sewer lines for structural defects by directing the movement of the unit through the sewer system and adjusting the camera to diagnose problems. 2. Service, adjust, and make repairs to camera, equipment, and attachments. 3. Operate equipment to flush or saw obstructions from the utility system.

2 4. Clean and check equipment after each use, perform routine inspection service, adjust, and make repairs to equipment, and attachments. 5. Assist with the monitoring of Root Treatment processes in utility lines. 6. Introduce smoke into sewer system to identify sources of groundwater infiltration. 7. Conduct sampling and testing, schedule tests, determine testing needs, process necessary paperwork, and interpret results. 8. Routinely perform site assessments, enforcement, and follow up on sites that could potentially generate problematic flows into the Authority s wastewater collection systems. 9. Certify all necessary backflow prevention devices for proper operation and Maintenance . 10. Observe all new installations and assess backflow preventer devices for irrigation. 11. Perform inspections on manholes and manhole lids to prevent unwanted rain or groundwater from entering the sewer.

3 12. Investigate, assist, and respond to customers with concerns. 13. Locate and exercise valves and hydrants to make them accessible and ensure operability. 14. Complete site assessment reports and documentation for the Programs. 15. Represent the Authority professionally in meetings with existing and potential customers and their representatives. 16. Maintain a thorough knowledge of federal, state, and municipal laws and regulations pertaining to protection of potable water systems including waterworks regulations, applicable building codes, Safe Water Drinking Act and local sewer use ordinances. 17. Maintain assigned vehicle. 18. Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Preventative Maintenance Leader. C. Supervision Responsibilities The position has no supervisory responsibility. D. Hours of Work Page 1 of 2 The position typically requires working Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm with a thirty (30) minute lunch break.

4 This position is subject to being on-call during the off-hours as may be needed for emergency repairs. E. Work Environment and Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. This position requires working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, in varying terrains, as well as working in potentially hazardous and confined space environments. This position requires the ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, push, pull, grasp, walk long distances, perform repetitive motions, and stand for long periods of time. Visual acuity is also required for depth perception, color perception, visual inspection, operation of machines, as well as the operation of motor vehicles and equipment.

5 The exertion of up to 20 pounds constantly, 50 pounds frequently, and 100 pounds occasionally is required to move objects. F. Qualifications 1. Graduate from High School or equivalent diploma. 2. At least 3 years of experience in water and sewer or construction preferred. 3. A valid Virginia driver s license and a Class A CDL with Air within 6 months of hire and comply with the Authority s Vehicle and Equipment policy. 4. Must obtain a NASSCO PACP, MACP, and LACP certification within the first 12 months of hire. 5. Must be proficient in the use of Computers including Microsoft Office . 6. Must obtain and maintain a Backflow Prevention Device Worker Certification and a Basic Work Zone Traffic Control Certification. 7. Must be organized, detailed, and self-motivated. 8. Be able to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively orally and in writing.

6 9. Be able to maintain logs and prepare reports. 10. Other skills and knowledge that demonstrate the ability to do the job. G. Compensation This position is compensated as a Pay Band 3 on the Pay Band scale. H. Condition of Employment This position serves at the will of the Executive Director.
