1 Letter Sounds Materials Letter Sounds Quick Check, select 1 10 (for student). Letter Sounds : Student Progress Chart (for teacher). Administration Notes The Letter Sounds Quick Check is administered individually. Make sure the student touches the letters in the proper sequence and that the student does not get off track. If the student skips a line or Letter , redirect the student to the correct Letter .. If the student gives the long vowel sound for a vowel, say, That's right, A' does say /a/, but A' has another sound , too. Vowels have two Sounds . What is the other sound A' can make? Use the pronunciation guide below to help score responses. Instructions 1. Say, See these letters? I want you to tell me the sound the Letter makes. Here's an example: This is the Letter M'. I. would say /mmmm/ because that is the sound the Letter makes.
2 2. Say, Put your finger on the first Letter and tell me the sound the Letter makes. If you don't know the sound the Letter makes, you can skip it and go on to the next one. Are you ready? . Scoring 1. Mark a slash through each incorrect response and write what the student said next to each incorrect response. 2. Count the number of Letter Sounds the student pronounced correctly. 3. The maximum possible score is 26. 4. Write the date and record the student's score on the Letter Sounds : Student Progress Chart.
