6 Components of the condensate disposal system shall be cast iron, galva-nized steel, copper, cross-lin ked polyethylene, polyeth-ylene, ABS, CPVC, PVC, or polypropylene pipe or tubing. Components shall be selected for the pressure and temperature rating of the installation. Joints and connec-tions shall be made in accordan ce with the applicable provisions of Chapter 7 of the florida building Code, Plumbing relative to the material type. Condensate waste and drain line size shall be not less than 3/4 inch( mm) internal diameter and shall not decrease in size from the drain pan connection to the place of condensate disposal. Where the drain pipes from more than one unit are mani-folded together for condensate drainage, the pipe or tubing shall be sized in accordance with Table.

Condensate from all coolin g coils and evaporators of equipment served by an onsite cooling tower in a building or structure wherein the aggregate cooling capacity of the equipment exceeds 65,000 Btu/hr shall be collected and conveyed from the drain pan outlet and discharged to the cooling tower.

8 Where an on-site cooling tower is not installed the condensate from all cooling coils and evaporators shall be conveyed from the drain pan outlet to an approved place of disposal. Such piping shall maintain a minimum horizontal slope in the direction of discharge of not less than one-eighth unit vertical in 12 units horizontal (1-percentslope). Condensate shall nnot discharge into a street, alley or other areas as to cause a :GENERAL Auxiliary and secondary drain systems. In addi-tion to the requirements of Section , where damageto any building components could occur as a result ofoverflow from the equipment primary condensate removalsystem, one of the following auxiliary protection methodsshall be provided for each cooling coil or fuel-fired appli-ance that produces condensate:1.

9 An auxiliary drain pan with a separate drain shall beprovided under the coils on which condensation willoccur. The auxiliary pan drain shall discharge to aconspicuous point of disposal to alert occupants inthe event of a stoppage of the primary drain. The panshall have a minimum depth of 11/2 inches (38 mm),shall be not less than 3 inches (76 mm) larger thanthe unit, or the coil dimensions in width and lengthand shall be constructed of corrosion-resistant mate-rial. Galvanized sheet steel pans shall have a mini-mum thickness of not less than inch ( ) (No. 24 gage). Nonmetallic pans shall have aminimum thickness of not less than inch ( ).2. A separate overflow drain line shall be connected tothe drain pan provided with the equipment. Suchoverflow drain shall discharge to a conspicuouspoint of disposal to alert occupants in the event of astoppage of the primary drain.

10 The overflow drainline shall connect to the drain pan at a higher levelthan the primary drain An auxiliary drain pan without a separate drain lineshall be provided under the coils on which conden-sate will occur. Such pan shall be equipped with awater-level detection device conforming to UL 508that will shut off the equipment served prior to over-flow of the pan. The auxiliary drain pan shall beconstructed in accordance with Item 1 of this A water-level detection device conforming to UL508 shall be provided that will shut off the equip-ment served in the event that the primary drain isblocked. The device shall be installed in the primarydrain line, the overflow drain line, or in the equip-ment-supplied drain pan, located at a point higherthan the primary drain line connection and below theoverflow rim of such : Fuel-fired appliances that automaticallyshut down operation in the event of a stoppage in thecondensate drainage Water-level monitoring devices.
