15-Indicator / Trasmitter type MST-X ..16 Remote Transmission System Type Level Switches- type NUMBER Magnetic Level Gauges are designed and manufactured in compliance with the international standardsISO 9001, "PED" - 97/23/EC Pressure Equipment Directive and "ATEX" 94/9 instruments have been also approved by several bodies, organizations and national and internationalauthorities. For further information, please apply to our commercial department3 BONTOPERATING PRINCIPLEThe operation of the BONT Magnetic Level gauge is based onsome elementary physical principles.

The principle whereby the liquid in communicating vessels isalways at the same Level ,Archimede s principle according to which a body immersed ina liquid receives a buoyancy equal to the weight of displacedliquid,The principle of attraction between North and South poles oftwo permanent magnets and that of repulsion between principle has two applications in the BONT magneticlevel gauge:first between the magnet in the chamber float and every sin-gle magnet of the indicating scale, second between the magnets of the indicating Level Gauges are very suitable for interface Reading .

Thelevel gauge float has only to sink in the liquid having lower spe-cific gravity and to float on the liquid having higher specific spite of its simple operating principle, the BONT magneticlevel gauge represents the result of long research and experi-ence in design, sizing, choice of materials and manufacturingtechnology, which brought to the production of one of the mostreliable measure instrumentsDESIGNThe BONT Magnetic Level gauge consists of:a vertical chamber consisting of a tube of suitable diameterand thickness containing a float wherein a permanent magnetis placed exactly on the liquid Level line;two horizontal stub pipes for connection to the vessel contain-ing the liquid of which we wish to know the Level ;two stop valves (recommended, but not mandatory) one oneach stub pipe, to isolate the Level gauge.

An indicating scale, outside the vertical chamber, consisting ofa case of non- Magnetic material with transparent front facecontaining a set of small permanent magnets enclosed insmall cylinders which can rotate on their horizontal cylinders show an external surface having two to the orientation of each magnet (due to the actionof the magnet in the float) each cylinder will show externally halfof its surface of one colour or the indicating scale will be of one colour ( white) over thechamber area taken up by gas, vapour or steam phase con-trasting with the other colour ( red) over the chamber areataken up by liquid system for damaged float.

The three bottom cylinders ofthe indicating scale are placed lower than the bottom connec-tion of the Magnetic Level gauge. They are used for control offloat efficiency. With float damaged and its consequent sinkingin the liquid, these three cylinders show the yellow application range is very wide and includes all the situa-tions where the fluids are:at high pressure, at low or high temperature,at low pressure, at low or high temperature, chemically aggressive, pollutant to environment, noxious or poisonous for people health, inflammable or explosive, with identical optical characteristics of the superimposedphases (interface)MATERIALSThe most utilised materials are:Vertical Chamber.

Iron, copperand silver alloys are normally materials, like Hastelloy, Incoloy, Titanium, Zirconium,6Mo, etc. will be supplied on CONDITIONSThe BONT Magnetic Level Gauges are manufactured in differ-ent Types and Classes, for various operating conditions, listedbelow in Fig.

Operating and design conditions must be clearly indicatedto choose a suitable Level gaugeThe selection of the Level gauge depends also on the specificgravity of the vessel liquid (see page 7 and following)If you want to use a Level gauge for conditions different (lesssever too) from those to which it was originally supplied, pleasecontact our Engineering Department. The sealing is obtainedusing silicone cylinders are of plastic material of white/red colour, suitable for fluid operating temperature up to 200 Temperature ScaleIn this scale the cylinders are of special plastic material of white/black colour, suitable for fluid operating temperature up to 400 C.
