Barings Bank In 1995 Barings Bank collapsed when it could not meet enormous trading losses incurred by a rogue trader, Nick Leeson, located in the bank’s Singapore office. Leeson had engaged in unauthorised activities, such as changing the trade prices and crediting ‘switching’ accounts where losses were neither reported nor reconciled.
