6 A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the firstday of the Show. Where the Best of Breed, Best in Group or Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically beawarded Best Puppy in Breed, Best in Group and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Bestof Breed, Reserve Best of Group or Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dogit should also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show , selection of Best Puppy in Breed, Best in Group and Best Puppy in Show must follow the selectionof Best of Breed and Best in Show )Championship Shows Judged on the Group System(1)Best Puppy in Best Puppy must be declared in each breed from puppies entered in the breedclasses.(2)Best Puppy in Group. From 1st January 2017, and for a period of one year the Kennel Club ShowRegulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class beforeexhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible tocompete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended. 8 The dog declared Best Puppy in Show, however, must notcompete in any subsequent competition. Puppies may be withdrawn from Any Variety Classes when judgedbefore Breed ) the purpose of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny,Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to one breed will not be considered to be a beaten in Show. From 1st January 2017, and for a period of one year the Kennel Club Show Regulations whichstipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any VarietyClass/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in showcompetitions are suspended. (Please refer to the FAQs on the Kennel Club Website for further information).2 The dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and is unbeaten by any other dog exhibited at thesame of a Category 3 Breed.
9 A breed from time to time designated by the General Committee as requiringparticular monitoring by reason of visible condition(s) which may cause health or welfare concerns. The list ofdesignated Category 3 Breeds is kept under regular )Shows Judged on the Group System.(Definition; Shows judged on the Group System includes classes forbreeds within more than one Group, as defined in Kennel Club Regulation B(A); and requires a judge todeclare a Best of each Group after which the exhibits so declared will compete for the award of Best in Showand Reserve Best in Show.)(1)Best of a breed is separately classified a Best of Breed may be declared but only from thosedogs which have received a first prize in a breed class at the show. Where separate classes are providedfor each sex of a breed a Best of each Sex must be :The Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified award relevant to a Category 3 Breedwill not be confirmed until the dog has passed an examination by the General and Group ChampionshipShow Veterinary Surgeon.
