Modern fire Station kit in HO scale This kit includes all building parts milled in white styrene plastic, Plastruct brick sheet and clear window glazing. All parts fit together but may need light sanding in joints for cosmetic reasons. The model needs painting. Some model building and painting skills are required. 2 This kit is milled in styrene plastic and is very easy to glue together using Plastruct Plastic Weld or similar glue products. The wall parts are tabbed and slotted for easier assembly. Take your time to identify all parts, lay them out and clean them for any burrs before gluing them together. Break out the fillings in the doors and windows and cut or file the burrs away. Floor and walls Roof and trim Doors, windows and glazing Before you start assembling, Use the walls as templates for cutting the brick sheet to fit.

When the walls outer perimeters are cut, tape the brick to walls with masking tape and cut out the window openings. Assembly Start by assembling the left and rear walls as shown. The parts go almost together, you can apply the liquid glue and apply pressure to the parts to make them go all the way together, or file all the corners lightly with a triangular file for a perfect fit. Then glue the walls to the side of the base plate. Glue on the remaining garage walls and the walls of the low crew section. Mount the roof support across the middle.

Install the strips for the roof overhang around the walls. Glue the roof trim strips around the sides (NOT on top) of the small roof. Glue the roof trim parts onto the side of the overhang strips. Begin with the short sides. Cut the left side brick sheet to fit around the crew section and glue it on. Apply the glue around the edges only, if you put glue on the entire wall it will warp after a few days. Glue the brick to the remaining walls. Attach the cleaned doors and windows to a piece of cardboard with double sided tape, and paint it with gray primer.

Painting The prototype for this fire Station has white doors and roof, but many stations have bare aluminum doors. If you choose the white trim, you should paint it anyway. Unpainted styrene turns yellow over time. Mask off the entire building except the roof fascia and paint it with gray primer. Also paint the small roof over the crew section. When the primer is dry, paint everything white. Paint the roofs Grimy Black. If you want to make mortar lines in the brick wall, do this now. You can do it using a gray wash or by using Roberts Brick Mortar Formula, which is a very easy-to-use product with nice results.

Then give the whole building a coat of Testors Dull Cote. Mount the window glazing inside the walls and on the inside of the roll-up doors. When the glue has set, press in the window frames. This should be a press fit so you do not need to glue them in. You may need to file off the sharp corners of the window frames. If you want to glue them in place, use Crystal Clear or a similar liquid glass product. At this time you need to decide which doors you want to leave open and cut off the excess. I recommend gluing the doors with Woodland Scenics Accent Glue, this way you can remove the doors again later.

Place the fire trucks in the Station and put on the roof. The roof will easily come off again, either pressing with a finger through the open door or lifting it using a hobby knife. Enjoy your fire Station on your layout.
