Ghazi-ud-din Siddiqi Feroz Jung II was the elder son of Mir Qamaruddin Siddiqi first Nizam of Hyderabad, who called it Ghaziuddinnagar after himself and built a spacious structure consisting of 120 rooms of masonry with pointed arches. After the opening the railway line in the year name of the place was shortened to Ghaziabad. As its boundary is adjacent to Delhi, it acts as the main entrance of Uttar Pradesh and that is why it is also called the Gate Way of Uttar Pradesh. Ghaziabad was one of the Tehsils of Meerut District in Uttar Pradesh. 5 It comes in NCR, It is the section of Meerut division. According to survey 2011 Ghaziabad is the third district in UP with highest population. The district Ghaziabad is situated in the middle of Ganga-Yamuna doab. In shape, it is roughly rectangular. Its length is 72 kilometers and its breath is 37 kilometers It is located between 28 30' and 28 -59 North latitude and 77 26' and 78 -10' East longitude. -1- TOPOGTOPOGTOPOGTOPOGRRRRAAAAPPPPHHHHYYYY Nature has been very generous to Ghaziabad. The land is very fertile; topography is plain and has abundance of good quality of groundwater. Besides the nature's generosity, the District has a tremendous locational advantage being in proximity to Delhi. Originally established on the eastern side of river hindon, present sprawling DEVELOPMENT of Ghaziabad can be observed on both sides of river hindon.
6 Hindon River is an important tributary of Yamuna River & flows between Ganges and Yamuna rivers. Flowing north south, Hindon river passes through middle of the city and meets Yamuna about 35 KM south of Ghaziabad. District Ghaziabad is bounded by Meerut district on the north, Bulandshahar and Gautambudh Nagar districts on the south, Hapur on the east while Faridabad (Haryana) and National Capital Delhi State lies on the South West. The total area of the district was 2590 sq. km. Around 30 lakhs plantation is done with 100 percent achievement in the district. This will not only help pollution control to some extent in the district but also help industrial uses in the coming days.
