8 PREAMBLE This standard is the result of a partnership between ECOCERT Greenlife, a c ertific ation body in the environmental field, and c ertain detergent professionals who have long expressed the need to find a solution to the following problems: T he lac k of an offic ial st andard relat ing t o DETERGENTS that do not contain petroc hemic al surfac tants and made from NATURAL origin substanc es. T he diffic ult y, even impossibility, for the c onsumer, of rec ognising produc ts that are made exc lusively from nat ural origin substanc es and using proc esses whic h are respectful of the environment. The need to support detergent manufac turers foc using on respec ting the qualities of NATURAL origin substanc es and the environment.

9 In ot her words, it is, first ly, about rec ognising t he expert ise of some detergent manufac turers who are respec tful of the environment throughout the produc tion proc ess and, sec ondly, ensuring better transparency of composition for the consumer. II. OBJECTIVES Using this standard, ECOCERT Greenlife intends to meet the following objec tives: Define a higher level of quality than that defined by European regulation of DETERGENTS , whic h will guarant ee real promot ion of agro-resourc es, genuine respec t for the environment throughout the c hain of produc tion and real respec t for the c onsumer. Est ablish a link bet ween c ert ain DETERGENTS and Organic F a rmin g, promoting the use of plant-based ingredients produced using Organic F a rmin g.

The objectives of the standard T he objec t ives of t he st andard t ranslat e int o applic at ion of t he following princ iples: Promote renewable resourc es over t hose of ot her origins and, part ic ularly, petrochemical resources. Promote the use of ingredients produced by Organic Farming, the best guarantee that ecological values have been respected. Promot e t he least environment ally damaging transformation processes possible. Be t ransparent t owards the c onsumer, using c ommunic ation methods and phraseology t hat are not misleading.
