Lane Steel Installs 72 Hi-Strength Triple Turret Shape-Correction Andiamo Slitter McKees Rocks, PA - Lane Steel Company has installed a high-performance precision shape-correction Turret Head Slitting Line in its coil processing and distribution center in McKees Rocks, PA. The new Slitting Line has the capacity to process 60,000-lb x 72 wide coils in gauges from .012 through .250 , with mechanical properties ranging to 81,000-psi. Slitting capacity is 19-cuts in .250 . An Outboard Support engages before the coil is set on the Uncoiler drum. The Uncoiler and Entry Unit have the ability to uncoil from top or bottom. The new Slitting Line is equipped with performance and product quality enhancing features that include an Entry Straightener, Triple Turret Head Slitter, Andiamo Automatic Hands-Free Threading, Loop Doubler, Loop Control Variable Tensioning, Precision Shape- Correction Leveler, and Off-Line Coil OD Banding.

2 The line also has the ability to de-coil from top or bottom. The Entry Unit efficiently handles gauges from .012 through high-strength .250 . A Coil Straightener is engaged to address hi- strength and heavy-gauge coil-set and cross-bow. The compact Entry Unit contains an Automatic Edge Guide, Pushbutton Side Guides, Thickness Gauge, and a Crop Shear with Tail Feed Rolls. Master Coils are staged on a Turntable and transferred to the Uncoiler via a Blocker Roll Car that allows off-line removal of radial and belly bands ahead of the Uncoiler. Lane Steel's Triple Turret Slitter is fitted with 60 and 72 heads and is capable of producing 19-cuts in .250 gauge hi-strength. Superior quality slitting and edge burr tolerance, faster re-tooling, one-minute head exchange time, and floor space savings are advantages Turret Head Slitters have over all other Slitter styles.

3 Lane Steel's Slitter is equipped with Braner /Loopco's patented CloverNuts, which are threadless and weigh 2/3 less than conventional tooling nuts. Threading 19-cuts in .250 and 20+ cuts in thinner gauges is Slit coils are produced with 20 and 24 IDs. 4 Band slit coils off-line. Un-banded coils are captured from both sides and the OD before removal from the Recoiler. Coils are then transferred to a 4-Arm equipped with Tail Hold-Down apparatus that captures coil tails and allows off-line OD banding. A Precision Cluster Leveler corrects center-buckle, edge-wave, and slitter induced cross-bow, which allows Lane Steel to deliver superior slit coil products to its customers.
