Minutes FOR EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING RETIRED EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION OF LOCKHEED MARTIN OF CENTRAL FLORIDA November 2, 2010 ATTENDEES Betty Binford Joe Boler Bill Bowden Bill Drown Fred Curtis Tom Goslin Ann Hartle Ed Jones Shirley Jones Marty Galassini Andrea Lawrence Garth Meyers Barbara Ripino Joe Ripino Bill Rivera Harvey Titen Chet Winsor Bob Wood PRESIDENT S REPORT: Harold Cates In Harold s absence, First Vice President, Bill Rivera, called the meeting to order at 11:00 , at the Orlando Science Center. REALM had a good turn out for the Day of Caring with about 25 volunteers. Overall, there were around 800 supporters from Lockheed Martin, Eastside and Westside.

The Annual Meeting held at the Eastside Plant had an attendance of 150. Everyone seemed to enjoy Dale Bennett s speech, the lunch and the tours. SECRETARY S REPORT: Shirley Jones Bill Bowden made a Motion to accept the October Secretary s Report. Joe Boler seconded the Motion; the Motion carried. TREASURER S REPORT: Bill Drown Bill said he was continuing the work Steve Marcareau and Betty Binford started in rationalizing the accounting processes and controls of REALM. This continued process is reflected in the changes seen on the financial report he passed out. At present, REALM does its financial reports on a fiscal year and files tax returns on a calendar year.

This process does not represent a true picture of our finances. Bill made a Motion to switch from a fiscal year to a calendar year for financial reporting purposes. Joe Boler seconded the Motion; the Motion carried. Since the above Motion passed, Bill proposed a short budget for the fourth quarter of 2010, to bring back to a calendar year of 2010. Joe Boler made a Motion to accept the proposed short budget. Garth Meyers seconded the Motion. In discussion, Ed Jones said the amount budgeted for line item 30 for computer supplies and line item 32 for website expenses should be removed. If funds are needed in the future, he will present them to the Board at that time.

Bill Bowden made a Motion to approve the budget, as modified by Ed Jones. Joe Boler seconded the Motion; the Motion carried. The REALM checkbook balance is $10, The CD balance is $10, , making a total fund balance through October 31, 2010, of $21, 2 Joe Boler made a Motion, seconded by Ed Jones, to accept the Treasurer s report; the Motion carried. COMMITTEE REPORTS: ADMINISTRATION COORDINATOR AND PARLIAMENTARIAN: Nancy Hulcher No report was submitted. MEMBERSHIP: Ann Hartle There were no new members to report. WELCOME COMMITTEE: Esther Roberts No report was submitted. SCIENCE CENTER: Fred Curtis Fred found a copy of the old 2003 agreement REALM had with the Science Center.

He updated it to reflect the new mission of the Science Center and to reflect the needs of REALM. He does not see a problem with getting a new agreement with the Center. There are very few REALM volunteers now compared to a few years ago. We need to rejuvenate the participation of volunteers. Part of the problem is with the aging membership who is unable to volunteer and new membership who are willing to volunteer. Tom Goslin said in order to get volunteers, we need to call people and talk to them on a one to one basis. Garth said he does not think OSC really has an interest in REALM volunteers and thinks it might be because they only work on a part-time basis.

The OSC will have their Neanderthal Ball on November 6, 2010. A complimentary breakfast is scheduled for December 9, 2010, at 8:30 , to talk about programs. They will be soliciting contributions at the end. Fred can get invitations for anyone who is interested in attending. Harvey Titen said he thinks it is important to support the Science Center personally and with a donation from REALM. ROSTER/DATA AND WEBSITE: Ed Jones Membership renewals are starting to come in. NEWSLETTER: Andrea Lawrence Photos of the annual meeting and tours and photos of the volunteers at the Day of Caring will be in the Newsletter. CALENDAR EVENTS: Andrea Lawrence/Linda Schaidt Events and activities should be posted on the calendar at least two months prior to the event to give Andrea enough time to get the flyers in the Newsletter.

DISTRIBUTION: Al Courney The Orlando Post Office has been rejecting the Newsletter mail. Ed confronted the OPS and they told him that the software that he uses was incorrect. He then contacted the software distributors and they told him that the software was correct. Ed got the software distributors and OPS to start talking to each other. The OPS has sent Ed an apology for their past errors. They will check the mail according to the software print outs. 3 RECREATION DIRECTOR: Andy Schaidt No report was submitted. BLOOD BANK: Sylvia Williamson Dave Carls, Gerry Goodwin, Nancy Shollenbarger and Bill Toole made donations. CARE & CONCERN: Ann Hartle The information for the Care and Concern and In Memoriam columns will be listed in the Newsletter.

MONTHLY PROGRAMS AND TRAVEL: Joe Boler November 6, 2010 Annual Dinner Dance at the Elk s Club. The number of reservations has been very low the last couple of years for this activity and it may be cancelled in the future. 9 Ten people are booked on this cruise. Contact Shirley Jones or call Karen Strain at L Attitude Adjustments, for more information. Joe said he is concerned at the low turn out for the Annual Dinner Dance and for the Annual Installation of Officers and Awards Luncheon. Garth suggested that REALM consider paying for some of these activities to get more people interested. Harvey Titen said that REALM used to pay for the incoming and outgoing Board members to give them recognition for their service. Tom Goslin said if REALM paid for everyone, maybe it would be an incentive for them to get more active. Bill Drown said if we got everyone together in one place, it would be good for recruiting targets and we could proceed from there.

Bill Rivera said the Board should not do this for the Annual Installation and Awards Luncheon for January 12, 2011. The Board will pursue this further in upcoming meetings. More information on trips and activities will be in the Newsletter. LUNCH BUNCH: The next luncheon will be February 15, 2011, at Errol Estates Country Club.
