GeneralAssembly of a typical pump package is shown in Figure types of compensator subassemblies are used with thePVE series pumps .
Refer to Section III for principles ofoperation. See Model Code for pressure Compensator (C), (Flat Cut-Off Type): A pump usingthis compensator will maintain a constant load pressure forall values of flow within the capacity of the Compensator (CG), (Remote Control Type): Thiscompensator is similar to the C type compensator exceptthe compensator is controlled by a remote hydraulic sourcesuch as a relief Compensator (CV), (Load Sensing Type): A loadsensing compensator provides flow at a pressure equal tothat required by the load plus a constant value used as apressure drop across a metering valve. The pump willchange its flow with changes in size of the metering valveorifice. The pump and compensator together provide aconstant flow source for the load, at a pressure establishedby the requirements of the load, hence the title LoadSensing.
CAUTIONA relief valve must be provided in the external circuitto prevent excessive pressure build up at the Compensator (CVP), (Load Sensing PressureLimiting Type): The CVP control is a combination of thestandard flat cut-off compensator (C) and the load sensingcompensator (CV). The load sensing compensator controlsflow to the load across an external valve orifice. If pressurebuild up exceeds the flat cut-off compensator setting, the flatcut-off compensator overrides the load sensing compensatorand lowers the flow to prevent excessive pressure build-upat the Compensator (CVPC), (Load Sensing PressureLimiting Type): This compensator is the same as the CVP compensator except the load sensing spring is heavier. Theheavier spring provides a slightly higher pressure differential(160nP vs.)
350nP) across the external valve orifice. SeeFigure Compensator (CVPD), (Load Sensing, PressureLimiting Type): Same as CVPC except with Application Pump ratings in USgpm as shown in the model coding are at1800 rpm. See Figure 2. The pistonshoes are held against the yoke face by the shoe plate. Theangle of the yoke face imparts a reciprocating motion toeach piston within the cylinder block.
Inlet and outlet portsconnect to a kidney slotted wafer plate. As the pistons moveout of the cylinder block, a vacuum is created and fluid isforced into the void by atmospheric pressure. The fluidmoves with the cylinder block past the intake kidney slot tothe outlet (pressure) kidney slot. The motion of the pistonreverses and fluid is pushed out the cylinder block into theoutlet Compensator (Flat Cut-Off Type)A flat cut-off compensated pump will maintain a constantload pressure for all values of flow within the capacity of thepump providing the load is sufficient to build up step by step description of the flat cut-off type compensa-tor control follows. Refer to Figure 3 throughout a no load condition exists, the pump will delivermaximum flow at zero pressure.
