1 PANELBOARDS AND Selection GuidePOWER DISTRIBUTION AND PROTECTION2A panelboard is a distribution centre for the electrical circuits within an installation. The mains power comes in and is divided into the sub circuits. When selecting a panelboard, you need an understanding of the number of circuits and the circuit breakers that are going to protect those circuits. There are also other factors, such as the environment of the installation and any accessories that may be are six steps involved in selecting the right panelboard 1: Select the breaker type:STEP 2: What is the chassis size?STEP 3: Mainswitch? DIN-mount Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCB) NEMA StyleMOD6 Din-T Safe-TMost times the Miniature Circuit Breakers will be used, however if a contractor is replacing or adding to an existing building, they may require the NEMA style breakers and boards.

2 PANELBOARDS are sold as MOD6, Din-T or Safe-T and come with the correct busbar chassis to accommodate the chosen breaker mentioned, a panelboard distributes sub circuits, so it is important to know how many circuits are required for the installation. Each circuit requires a circuit breaker to be mounted to the chassis; we refer to this as a pole. Boards are sized by the number of poles required. You need to choose between an 18 pole, 24 pole, 36 pole, 48 pole, 60 pole or 96 pole poleSelect whether a mainswitch is required. Sometimes the installer may choose to isolate the board from a circuit breaker or mainswitch in another location. If this is the case, choose No mainswitch for the : The terms isolator and mainswitch are similar devices, they describe a device that is used only to remove power to the board.

3 Isolators do not provide overload or short-circuit protection, circuit breakers are used for that mainswitch options are 160A or 250A 4: Type of board:Choose the range of board required to suit the application and 5: Colour options:STEP 6: Other options:The colour option describes the look of the panelboard, externally. Standard base/door combinations available are: Oyster Grey (MOD6 only) Charcoal/Orange Charcoal/Grey Orange/OrangeNote: The paint options are flexible in the Concept range, but must be specified when ordering the board if it s a non-standard the basic layout and look of the board has been selected, we then choose options to be included.

This applies if the installation needs to be monitored separately, ie. metering light and power circuits moduleEmpty box of varying height.

5 If you order a Concept Plus accessory module, it will be the same dimensions as the Concept Plus panelboard, making it easy to mount side by side or above/below each other. Typical uses include larger cable terminations, over-size mainswitches, third-party lighting lighting testTests operation of Emergency Evacuation Lighting for buildings; installed next to the mainswitch, on the horizontal DIN mounting kitAllows panelboard to be mounted in a wall cavity, so closed door is flush with the wall hoodFitted to flat roof, to give board a sloped-roof so any water dropping above, is deflected away to the front or side channels of the board so no water gets in from the board needs to be floor-standing.

6 This is a steel plate that is the same dimension as the board, but adds about 100mm to the overall height when fixed to the bottom of the dogDesigned for the purpose of safely and securely locking the DIN-mount MCBs.
