We are once again supporting those families who are struggling to provide food for themselves. Therefore, the fruit and vegetables will be going to local Children s Centres and the tinned items will go to the Food Bank in Shepton Mallet run by the Salvation Army. We hope you agree these are worthy causes and will help to alleviate their poverty. FOCS - Back by popular demand, each child creates a picture - great fun and a lovely keepsake. We welcome parents to come in and help their child create something fabulous. Alternatively if you would rather make your card at home, please come into the office to pick up a template.

Croscombe Church of England Primary School HEAD TEACHER Steve Heath Long Street, Croscombe Wells, Somerset BA5 3QL Tel: (01749) 343114 Fax: (01749) 344826 E mail: Web Site: Conkers Visit to Wells Cathedral - On Wednesday 4th October, Conkers class had a busy day exploring Wells Cathedral and learning about the construction of this amazing structure.

We began by rebuilding the Cathedral using a three dimensional wooden model and learning about each part of the building. We then looked at the construction of the stone arches and spent some time sketching the famous scissor arches. We also looked at some of the important symbols in the cathedral and made our own badges in the education room. We were lucky enough to have a guided tour where the children were able to ask questions and learn lots of interesting facts that they will be able to use in their projects on Wells. The guides were very impressed with how much the children already knew about the Cathedral and noted how well behaved they were throughout their visit. Thanks again must go to our Parent volunteers for their help on this fascinating day!

More photos of the visit on the School website. To celebrate National Space Week, Wells Library are hosting a Space Day this Saturday 7th October at the Library s Space Day. We were delighted that ex-Head Teacher, Keith Armstrong was able to join us and regale us with stories from his time in charge of the School . It was a very successful gathering and in addition we managed to raise over 200 for the School . Visitors were also able to look at the newly extended Chestnuts Class and the loft conversion now being used as our staffroom. Mrs Rachel Summerhayes our outgoing Chair of Governors, explained how hard we have worked to produce this much needed extra space for the children.

Past School photographs and the School registers and old log books, some going back over 80 years was very well received. The Governors expressed their thanks and commented on how beautifully the School was presented. A particular thank you to Nicola Morris for both helping with the evening and attending the event within 18 hours of giving birth to a beautiful baby girl. Many thanks also to Tanya O'Connor (Governor) for organising the evening and Kevin Oatley and his team for producing such a great addition to our School .
