Payment, clearing and settlement systems in India
The RBI is the depository (CSD) for government securities. For other securities, equities and corporate bonds, the two central depositories are the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) and the Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL), which hold the securities issued and traded through the stock exchanges in dematerialised form.
