1 PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT [YEAR B] Celebrant: Rejoicing in the coming of God our Saviour we turn to him with trust. Together we pray, saying: Lord, hear our prayer. 1. That the spirit of the Lord may empower all Christians to bring God s love and care to the poor, the brokenhearted and the imprisoned. Let us pray to the Lord. Response: Lord, hear our prayer. 2. That the seeds of justice and integrity may flourish in the hearts of leaders and peoples. Let us pray to the Lord. Response: Lord, hear our prayer. 3. That the sick may be healed, the unemployed find suitable work and all in need be helped by God s mercy. Let us pray to the Lord. Response: Lord, hear our prayer. 4. That we may witness to Christ s light this Advent by holding on to what is good and persevering in prayer, gratitude and joy.
2 Let us pray to the Lord. Response: Lord, hear our prayer. 5. That the FAITHFUL departed may be freed from sin and made holy at the coming of Christ. Let us pray to the Lord. Response: Lord, hear our prayer. Celebrant: Remember your promise of mercy, O Lord, and answer the petitions of your people who trust in your FAITHFUL love and rely on your unfailing help.
