This message applies to all active Army, United States Army Reserve (USAR), and Army Reserve/National Guard (ARNG) Enlisted, Commissioned Officer, and Warrant Officer Soldiers. 3. This message announces Procedures for Awarding Enlisted/Warrant Officer Additional Skill Identifier (ASI) S8 (Security Forces Assistance Support Personnel), Enlisted/Warrant Officer Skill Qualification Identifier (SQI) 3 (Security Forces Assistance Advisor), Commissioned Officer Skill Identifier (SI) S8 (Security Forces Assistance Support Personnel), and Commissioned Officer SI S9 (Security Forces Assistance Advisor).)
3 4. Enlisted/Warrant Officer ASI S8 and Commissioned Officer SI S8. a. ASI/SI S8 are utilized to identify personnel who are non-advisors assigned to Security Forces Assistance Brigade (SFAB) units and have not attended the Security Forces Assistance Advisor Course (SFAAC)/Combat Advisor Training Course (CATC). ASI/SI S8 are authorized for use with any Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) or Area of Concentration (AOC). Formatted Courtesy of: 2 b. Upon assignment to an SFAB support position, only Soldiers who have not completed the SFAAC/CATC will be coded with ASI/SI S8 by the unit S1/G1, utilizing the Military Occupational Specialty Function Procedures in reference (J). c. A DA Form 4187, signed by the unit commander, will be used as the source document for award of the ASI/SI. 5. Enlisted/Warrant Officer SQI 3 and Commissioned Officer SI S9. a. SQI 3 and SI S9 are utilized to identify personnel who have successfully completed the SFAAC/CATC at the Military Advisory Training Academy (MATA) under the auspices of the Army Armor School at Fort Benning, Georgia.
4 SQI 3 and SI S9 are authorized for use with any Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) or Area of Concentration (AOC). b. Upon successful graduation of SFAAC/CATC, Soldiers will be awarded SQI 3 or SI S9, as applicable, via Army Training Requirements and Resources System (ATRRS) transaction. Additionally, the MATA will award fully qualified Soldiers the appropriate SQI/SI by publishing orders signed by the MATA Director. Soldier should seek assistance from the SFAB S1/G1 who will update the Soldiers records. 6. SFAB Commanders responsibilities. SFAB Commanders will ensure that they initiate processes to add ASI/SI S8 upon assignment to SFAB support positions, and to verify SQI 3 and SI S9 are awarded to Soldiers who have completed the SFAAC/CATC. 7.
