2 There are three Assignment Levels within this class Assignment Level I: ASSOCIATE PROJECT Managers, under varying degrees of supervision, are responsiblefor PROJECT management work in planning, coordinating, and directing the implementation of the design andconstruction of capital projects. They maintain a management information system to provide data for theplanning and control for PROJECT development; establish PROJECT time and cost schedules; determine andcoordinate the activities required between the persons, agencies and departments responsible for projectcompletion; review all schedules, reports and orders prepared by consultants, contractors and agencies toassure conformance with PROJECT completion dates; check work performance and prepare management reportswhich stress significant problems; resolve problems that arise in meeting schedules and costs; meet with Cityagencies, contractors and citizen groups.

3 Advise and make recommendations to client agencies in formulatingproject needs, options, and consequences, assuring that functional requirements are adequately articulatedand that proposed projects fulfill these requirements; assist client agencies in developing scope of PROJECT ,drawing upon own agency's technical resources to develop conceptual estimates and schedules; oversee theconsultant selection and contracting process, and manage these contracts, or retain in-house design andconstruction management staff; with the client agency, conduct a post-occupancy evaluation of facilities;supervise subordinate employees; in the temporary absence of immediate supervisor, may assume the dutiesof that position; may incidentally perform duties of subordinates; and may drive a motor vehicle.

4 AllAssociate PROJECT Managers perform related of the physical activities performed by ASSOCIATE PROJECT Managers and environmental conditionsexperienced are: walking to and from inspection sites and during the course of inspections; climbing anddescending ladders or stairs to get to areas to be inspected, including exposed heights and confined spaces;standing for extended periods of time; distinguishing colors; bending, stretching, and stooping duringinspections; communicating orally; climbing over and around various objects; walking in areas that may bedamp, moldy, dark, dusty, smoky, vermin infested, noisy, acrid, or containing fumes, emissions, extreme heatand cold, lead dust, asbestos, or other potentially hazardous material; and working outdoors in all kinds Working Conditions: ASSOCIATE PROJECT Managers may be required to work shifts including nights,Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

This rate is subject to change. There arethree assignment levels within this class of positions. Promotions will generally be made to AssignmentLevel I. 8 Follow all instructionson the Special Circumstances Guide that pertain to you when you complete your "Application forExamination."ELIGIBILITY TO TAKE EXAMINATION: This examination is open to each employee of an agency under thejurisdiction of the Commissioner, Department of Citywide Administrative Services who on the first date ofthe multiple-choice test:(1)holds a permanent (not provisional) competitive appointment or appears on a Preferred List(see Note, below) for the title of PROJECT MANAGER ; and(2)is not otherwise ineligible.(Note: A "Preferred List" is a civil service list which is only for certain former permanent incumbents of theeligible title who have rehiring rights.)This examination is also open to employees who were appointed to an eligible title pursuant to New YorkState Civil Service Law, section 55-a, and who meet all other eligibility you do not know if you are eligible, check with your agency s personnel office.

9 You may be given the testbefore we verify your eligibility. You are responsible for determining whether or not you meet the eligibilityrequirements for this examination prior to submitting your application. If it is determined after the test datethat you are not eligible to participate in this examination, your application fee will not be refunded and youwill not receive a TO BE PROMOTED: In order to be eligible for PROMOTION , you must have completed yourprobationary period in the eligible title as indicated in the above "Eligibility To Take Examination" section,and you must be permanently employed in the eligible title or your name must appear on a Preferred List forthe eligible title at the time of PROMOTION .

10 Additionally, you must have served permanently in the eligibletitle for at least one TO BE PROMOTED:Medical Requirement for Certain Assignments: Employees assigned to coordinate or direct asbestos removalor lead abatement projects must meet applicable regulatory and medical requirements. Such employees mustnot have any condition which would prevent a good face seal when wearing a respirator. Periodic medicalexaminations will be administered as applicable while persons are assigned to asbestos removal or leadabatement TEST: The multiple-choice test may be given at a computer terminal or in a paper and pencil format. Youwill be informed of the format on your Admission Notice. A score of at least 70% is required to pass this score on this test will determine 85% of your final score.
