Venous thrombosis can form in any part of the venous system. However, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and PE are the most common manifestations of venous thrombosis. DVT and PE are known as venous thromboembolism (VTE). (DH, 2009) Thromboprophylaxis: Thromboprophylaxis is the treatment to prevent blood clots forming in veins.
