1 pureair AIR PURIFICATION SYSTEMHOMEOWNERS IAQ GUIDE FOR pureair MODELS PCO-12C, PCO-20 CGENERALThe pureair air PURIFICATION SYSTEM helps to signif-icantly reduce levels of airborne volatile organiccompounds, cooking odors, common householdodors, airborne dust particles and mold spores,and pollen in residential spaces. The pureair airpurification SYSTEM includes a MERV 9 PleatedFilter, UVA lamps, and a Metal Insert that is coatedwith a titanium dioxide catalyst. As air enters thesystem, a percentage of airborne particles andbioaerosols, such as mold and bacteria, larger microns are captured by the pleated filter. Thesmaller airborne particles, odors, and chemicalscontinue through the SYSTEM .

2 The UVA lamp acti-vates the catalyst on the Metal Insert. The catalystcombines with water vapor in the air to formhydroxyl radicals that destroy a percentage of theremaining odors and pureair air PURIFICATION SYSTEM is NOTintended to be used for remediation of activemold growth or high (industrial) levels of chemi-cals in the air. For existing mold growth, themold must be remediated by a qualified serviceprovider PRIOR to installation of your pureair air PURIFICATION :If there is a sudden source of contaminationin your home [caused by burned food, cleaning anoven, painting or hobby work that releases chemi-cals (model airplanes, soldering, furniture finishing,etc.)]

Mold: Minimize mold by controlling roof and water pipe leaks and it is recom-mended that relative humidity be kept between30%-50%. Contact a contractor if you have a waterleak. Ask your Lennox dealer about products thatreduce humidity levels in the home [variable speedair handlers/furnaces/compressors, humidity con-trols and dehumidifiers (85X74)].

5 Once the mold is removed by a qualified moldremediation company, the Healthy Climate pureair air PURIFICATION SYSTEM [models PCO-12C(75X69) and PCO-20C(75X61)] will help to removelow level mold spores in the Healthy Climate Germicidal Lights[models UV-500 (46X85), UV-1000 (46X87) and UV-2000 (46X89)] greatly reduce new mold growth onilluminated accumulation of dirt and dust in the air ductscreates an ideal site for mold growth. To ensureoptimal indoor air quality, non-porous insulation orexternally insulated ducts should be used, particu-larly on the supply side ( externally insulatedmetal plenums and ducts or, smooth-lined flex ductare preferred).

MONITORING and MAINTAINING IAQThe air quality in homes can be continuously moni-tored for Temperature and Relative Humidity(%RH). Ask your Lennox dealer about long-termmonitoring of T & %RH and CO (carbon monoxide)(72N00), as well as additional monitoring optionsfor additional IAQ parameters as cost-effectiveoptions become available.

7 Also available is a TotalVolatile Organic Compound (TVOC) test kit,processed by an independent analytical lab, thatidentifies the level of chemical contaminants in thehome (Part. No. X0264).A healthy climate can ONLY be sustained with reg-ular maintenance of the home SYSTEM . In order tomaintain optimal performance, the homeownermust change filters and lamps on the pureair SYSTEM , change humidifier pads on the humidifier,change germicidal lamps on each UV germicidalunit, keep the air ducts and air conditioning coilsclean and properly charged, etc. The best way toensure that the SYSTEM is properly maintained is toutilize a semi-annual service contract offered byyour Lennox dealer.

8 The SYSTEM should bechecked for optimal performance with routinemaintenance performed at the beginning of everyheating and cooling season. 9 Natural ventilation can be usedby opening windows.
