1 SamplePreparationSUPELCO170 Order: Technical Service: Web: MonitoringSolvent Desorption TubesIntroductionIn addition to capturing analytes of interest from air, a sampling device must ensure minimal background interference, exhibit sufficient capacityor breakthrough volume for the application for which it is intended, and provide an acceptable pressure drop during sampling. SUPELCO airsampling media meet these requirements, and conform to NIOSH, OSHA, US EPA, and ASTM specifications as required. Consistency andreproducibility are met through our stringent quality control testing. Many of the adsorbents we manufacture are proprietary and have uniqueand superior performance characteristics. Examples of these materials include our carbon molecular sieves and graphitized CartridgesUse LpDNPH cartridges for sampling carbonyls ( , formalde-hyde) in ambient, indoor, and industrial atmospheres.

2 Carbonylsare trapped on a high purity silica adsorbent coated with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine, where they are converted to thehydrazone derivatives. The derivatives are eluted from thecartridge in acetonitrile and are analyzed by HPLC. The S10xcartridge fits automated samplers ( , XonTech, Inc., ATECA tmospheric Technology). Use in a XonTech unit requires aspecial,reusableadapter (Cat. No. 505307). The S10L cartridgeis for analysts who prefer the shorter dimensions and do not needan adapter for sampling. The cartridge, reversible and eluted byconnecting it to a syringe barrel1, acts as a reservoir for gravity-fed elution Solvent . H10, H30, and H300 cartridges containhigher loadings of 2,4-DNPH, making them suitable for use inhigh concentration environments. The disposable ozone scrubberis similar to an S10L cartridge, containing of high puritypotassium iodide (ozone capacity at least 100,000ppb/hour).
