ISTEP+ reports student achievement levels according to the Indiana Academic Standards that were adopted by the Indiana State Board of Education (for a list of these standards by grade level, refer to the following: ). Part 1 and Part 2 of the ISTEP+ assessment are used to measure these standards, and they are both required components of the ISTEP+ 1 of the ISTEP+ assessment will be administered in online or paper-and-pencil formats for all content areas.

7 Corporation Test Coordinators submitted preferred delivery options during mode selection, which was completed in December. 9 The material in this manual that is to be read aloud to the students is printed in boldface SAY boxes. All other information is for the Examiner and should not be read to the students. To ensure reliable results, the specific directions for administering the test sections should be followed test administration order may be determined locally by content area. Either Mathematics OR English/Language Arts must be administered first, followed by the other content area (Mathematics or English/Language Arts) second. Science or Social Studies is administered third. All sections within a content area must be administered in order. A content area must be administered completely prior to giving the test for the next content area.

They should realize that they are taking an achievement test that will yield information about skills they should have already learned. Prepare students for testing and establish a relaxed atmosphere. Proctors are not certificated personnel and, therefore, may not administer the test sessions.
