1 Inspired by the Brazen Head, the oldest pub in Dublin, Ireland, The Brazenhead Pubs of Ohio welcome our friends and neighbors, and any other good-natured passers-by willing to share a stout and perhaps story or two with the name Brazenhead, you ask? Well, although the story is unreliable, it is likely that the name of the original bar was derived from another tavern in Limerick called At The Sign of The Brazen Head , so named for a red-headed(or, Brazen-headed) girl who watched the siege of Limerick from the same spot many years before.

2 The story goes that, while attempting to find a better vantage point to view the siege, the poor lass lost her head to a Williamite Army s , the Brazen Head of Dublin, Ireland opened for business in 1198, and served through the years as a hotel, textiles trading post, a cattle stable and a convenient place to belly up and plan a rebellion. It was also a popular meeting place and watering hole for author James after its 800 year-old namesake, and many other pubs we visited during our scouting tours of Ireland, The Brazenhead represents a unique effort to build an authentic Irish pub right here in Ohio.

3 Nearly everything you see as you look about either came from Ireland or is closely based on artifacts we found there.
