SUN TRACKER Fishin Barge 21 Signature SeriesJan 1, 2004 Our First ImpressionAtfirst glance, we were ready to grab our fishing poles and head out for the day. We didn t expect much of a performance from this model, but that s not what you want in a fishing boat anyway. From bow to stern, we couldn t wait to explore this boat because we were hoping to find hidden amenities to make our fishing experience even better. What we found was a great fishing pontoon TestWell-positionedfurniture, plenty of storage and great fishing amenities highlight Sun TRACKER s Fishin Barge .

The neutral colored furniture on this pontoon seems very informal, creating a relaxed atmosphere while onboard. There are four fishing chairs, including two at the bow, one at the stern and the captain s chair. There is also an L-shaped lounge for when you don t have a rod in your hand. New for this year, TRACKER has incorporated toe access between the lounges, so you won t be stubbing any more toes. The pedestal chairs are very comfortable, as well as stable, when compared to many pedestals on the market. They can also be repositioned around the boat.

The helm chair is a bucket seat that swivels. It lacks an armrest, but you shouldn t need one because it is well positioned in relationship to the helm and throttle to the fishing chairs, this pontoon has two aerated livewells one in the front and one in the rear. There is a full-length rod storage locker to the right of the helm chair. In the stern, there are also three rod holders. You ll also find a tackle storage compartment in the bow and the lid is also padded for another fishing seat. We told you we d find great fishing three gates, which are constructed for safety.

At the front, it is a half gate to make room for your trolling carpeting is present throughout the boat and even though it looks great, we would hate to get it dirty while cleaning our catch. We would have preferred a non-skid surface in the fishing area. Then all it would take is a quick spray down on the back and you re ready for your next trip sundeck makes room for the extra fishing chair, but you ll like what you find underneath. A changing room, including an added seat, pops up from underneath the sundeck.

It is simple and is a decent size too, and we really like the seat inside. The rear-entry folding ladder has very wide steps for safety, plus excellent t a refreshment center on the Fishin Barge , but there is a carry on cooler located under the helm. The lounge has under seat storage and you ll also find net storage on the back of the helm TestThetwo 24-inch round pontoons on the Fishin Barge are chambered and the weld quality is good and we found no sharp edges below. The single-walled Rotocast seat bases are screwed to the deck.

Good marine quality expanded vinyl is single stitched. There is average wiring work throughout the boat with many of the wires not protected or bundled, but overall there aren t any llfind excellent workmanship when you check out the changing room. It is easy to access and has great fit and finish work. The three gates on board are double latched and lift and lock with pinch protection, providing a very safe boat. The railings are also well supported, so it is obvious that safety is important to this year, Sun TRACKER extended the motor pod and fuel tank so you can make full use of the entire deck TestQuicknessout of the hole is the best part of this boat s performance test.

Equipped with a Mercury 50 four-stroke, she gives a good kick out of the hole. She s got a lot of spunk, but the speed tops out rather does have the ideal engine on it for a fishing pontoon and performance really isn t a factor on this ThoughtsThisis a fun, family fishing boat. The combination of fishing chairs for those who fish and bench seating for those who don t, makes this a great boat for everyone. There were plenty of hidden surprises that we were hoping for and it has everything you ll need for fishing.

This is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get model and I guess the only option that it s missing is some type of trolling motor package.
