8 Chaplaincy Golf Tournament All department membersSworn and non-sworn, if you have a son, daughter or a relative that are deployed or in the process of being deployed overseas, please send me an email: so I can coordinate the appropriate to all. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the San Jose Police Department s Military Liaison Program (MLP). The mission of this program is to show that We Care through outreach help to our department s military reservists serving overseas in support on the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT).

9 Here are some of the outreach services we would like to provide to our military men, women and family members that are serving us:Sponsorship We Care telephone calls to our military department members family. A simple telephone call asking the family member if there is anything we can do to help and to let them know that we are thinking of them. As an Army reservist who has been deployed overseas a few times, a telephone call from a department member makes a difference during those challenging times. Providing department representation, if requested by the family for significant events.

10 For example, if a son or daughter is participating in a sports championship or a graduation event, representation may bring an immeasurable smile to the child. When I was deployed overseas and my 5-year-old son saw a police officer, that brief presence brought a smile to my son as he thought of me, his police dad. Our department s representation silently speaks volumes to family members hearts. A collaborative reintegration in-processing for our returning military reservists. The MLP is currently reviewing and assessing the resources available to help make the reintegration process seamless as a One Stop Shop approach.
