2 SILVER eagle MANUFACTURING COMPANY (800) 547-6792 FAX: (503) 335-2171 5825 NE Skyport Way Portland, OR 97218 Section Technical /Maintenance Page 3 of 25 Low-Profile Turntable Front Suspensions REQUIRED MAINTENANCE (Maintenance is also required for trailer, axle, brakes & other components.) 5,000 Miles or 30 days 1) Torque axle U-bolts to 350 lbs/ft (axle tends to seat into its permanent position after a few thousand miles of operation. 2) Torque spring U-bolts to 350lbs/ft. 3) Torque mounting bolts, (Item 36) in hub flange to 175 lbs/ft. minimum. 4) Torque the capscrew (Item 8) at the side support pressure plate bolts to 100 lbs/ft.

3 5) Inspect drawbar eye assembly and tighten shank nut (Item 45) as required. Install a Silver eagle Manufactured safety wire (Item 47) on the shank nut to prevent it from backing off. 6) Tighten all fasteners as required. 7) Check oil level in spindle. Proper level is just below side filler plug. 20,000 Miles or 90 days 1) Complete items 1 - 6 above. 2) Complete item 7 above. Hereafter oil level should be checked each six months. 100,000 Miles or 12 Months 1) Fifth wheel should be entirely disassembled. Install Hub and Spindle Service Kit, (Part #2503) which includes: Nylon Bearing - Item 26 Ball Bearing - Item 27 Oil Seal - Item 25 Dust Shield - Item 24 Gasket - Item 31 Cotter Pin - Item 30 Replace any components that appear excessively worn. 4 3) Pack ball bearing Item 27, with lithium-base extreme pressure grease and install with shield down. Fill hub cap, (Item 32) with grease. 4) Assemble fifth wheel as follows: Tighten castellated nut, Item 29, until mounting flange of hub cannot be turned by hand. Back nut off one castellation, install cotter pin. Torque all fasteners as above. 200,000 Miles or 24 Months 1) Same procedure as 100,000 miles or 12 months. Repeat each 100,000 miles or 12 months. 5 Refer to Parts Catalog for part numbers. First 50 - 100 Miles Consult wheel maintenance instructions. Check wheel nut torque. Recheck at every dismount. Every 1,000 Miles Check axle maintenance instructions. Check axle for oil levels and leaks. First 5,000 miles or 30 days 1) Tighten the fifth wheel/leaf spring U-bolts to 375 lbs/ft torque. CST Models Only: Tighten the axle U-bolts to 375 torque. VAST Models Only: Tighten the axle seat bolts to 420 torque. 2) Inspect springs for broken leaves and missing or broken spring keepers or keeper bolts. 3) Inspect drawbar eye assembly and tighten shank nut (Item 14) as required. NOTE: Tighten shank nut until shock absorber bushings bulge almost to outer edge of shock housing. Be sure to reconnect the shank nut safety wire after tightening shank nut. 4) Tighten all other fasteners as required.

6 Replace any worn, stripped or missing fasteners with appropriate grade and strength. 5) Inspect all air lines and electrical cables for chafing, kinking, leakage or damage. 6) Inspect fifth wheel table assembly for bent, worn, cracked or excessively loose parts. Replace any cracked parts and worn or missing fasteners, readjust or tighten fasteners as necessary.
