1 Bulletin F10-10-24 February 2006 Supersedes April 1996 LIMITED M The Type BBI(E) valve is a small balanced port type valve designed primarily for use on residential and small commercial air conditioning and heat pump units. This valve is particularly well suited for systems which operate over widely varying conditions, or employ some means of capacity reduction such as a two-speed compressor. As refrigerants evolve, so must our products. Refriger-ant R-410A has grown to be a widely accepted refrig-erant. With a maximum operating pressure differential (MOPD) of 500 psi, the BBI(E) valve lends itself to controlling the higher pressures of 410A.
2 The nominal capacities of the 410A valves have been matched to the R-22 equivalent ratings. When using the selection tables or program, the actual capacities of the valves are typically higher than the nominal due to the increased pressure Type BBI(E) valve is available in many variations, and it is primarily sold to OEMs who can order large quantities of a particular specification. This valve is manufactured to order, and it is not a stock item. 3 Minimum orders will be required for new Type BBI(E) valve is available in straight through or angle (bottom outlet) configurations. Valves with the angle configuration are provided with an internal superheat adjustment in the outlet fitting. Valves with the straight through configuration are normally supplied without an external superheat adjustment. An external superheat adjustment is available, however, for testing and production if Type BBI(E) valve is available with either SAE flare or ODF solder connections. Refer to the attached outline dimensional drawing regarding available con-nection sizes.
4 Special connection sizes will be consid-ered upon request. Special external equalizer connections consisting of a 12 , 24 , or 36 length of 1/8 OD tubing with or without a 1/4 SAE flare nut are available at an addi-tional cost. A 60 x 50 mesh insert type strainer is available for the 1/4 SAE, 1/4 ODF, 3/8 SAE, and 3/8 ODF inlet con-nections at an additional cost. A 3/8 SAE inlet connec-tion with a removable 100 mesh strainer is also available at an additional cost. The 3/8 SAE removable strainer has a long taper and a 1/4 OD tube can be connected to it by using a 3/8 x 1/4 reducing flare nut.
5 A special 100 mesh insert type strainer maybe ordered for the 3/8 , 1/2 , and 5/8 ODF inlet connections. This strainer features a flange ring which allows the strainer to be anchored in place at the tubing stop of the fitting. The Type BBI(E) valve features a replaceable #43, #45, or 45-5 THERMOSTATIC element and all standard air conditioning and refrigeration THERMOSTATIC charges are available. The 43 element s maximum rated pressure (MRP) is 500 psi. The valves for use with 410A use the 45(1-8 tons) and 45-5(15 tons) elements and have an MRP of 700 psi. The standard capillary tube length is 30.
6 A 60 capillary tube length is available at an addi-tional cost and other capillary tube lengths will be con-sidered upon request. All Type BBI(E) valves can be furnished with a perma-nent bleed port for applications requiring system pres-sure equalization within a short period of time during compressor off cycle. Consult Bulletin F210-10-10 for further information. Net extra charges apply (see pricing section). The Type BBI(E) valve is not available with the Rapid Pressure Balancer (RPB) feature. The valve, however, may be disassembled for inspection and cleaning when Type BBI(E) valves use a #43, 45, or 45-5 replace-ment element, and it may be removed and replaced if necessary.
9 To order a replacement element, specify the following: KT-43 plus the desired THERMOSTATIC charge, , VGA . An adjustable bottom cap assembly kit may be ordered for non-adjustable Type BB1(E)valves with a straight through configuration. The kit number is KA-4.
