1 UNDERGRADUATE APPPLICATION FORM 2019 SECTION E_FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Stellenbosch University recognize academic merit through awarding merit bursaries based on year to year academic performance. Besides merit based bursaries, the University also offers financial assistance to all financial needy students that are eligible for funding. 2 Applications for financial assistance at Stellenbosch University opens every year on 1 March and closes on 31 August. With the phasing in of free education for all prospective undergraduates as introduced by government, we would like to encourage all prospective students of which the combined family gross income is below R350 000 per year, to apply directly at the National Students Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) for financial assistance.
