1 Understanding your MIIC Immunization Record USER GUIDANCE FOR THE P UBLIC For more information on accessing your or your family s Immunization Record , visit Find My Immunization Record ( ). MIIC Immunization Record The MIIC Immunization Record that is sent to you contains all the Immunization information that MIIC has available at the time it is requested. There are four sections in the Record : Demographic Information, Immunization History, Immunizations Comments, and Immunizations Recommended. Demographic Information Immunization History The Immunization History section of the Record shows your Immunization history. It includes all immunizations submitted by providers that exchange Immunization data with MIIC.
For a list of vaccine names and abbreviations, review the table at the end of this document. This report includes several columns of information: Vaccine type: Name of the vaccine type (for example, Influenza ). Dose Number: Where the dose falls in a series of multiple doses for a specific vaccine type. Some vaccines require multiple doses to maximize your protection against disease . The number listed explains what dose it is in a series. For example, 1 of 2 me ans f irst dose in a two-dose series. Understanding YOUR MIIC Immunization Record 2 Note: COVID-19 doses may show 3 of 2 or 2 of 1. This indicates an additional or booster dose. Date: The date you received the vaccine.
Vaccine (Trade Name): The product name of the vaccine you received. Some vaccines have multiple product types (for example: FLUAD Quadrivalent, Fluzone trivalent, Fluzone quad high pfree, FluMist, etc.). Not Valid Immunization Some immunizations may have Not Valid listed in the dose number column. This happens when a vaccination does not follow the standards of the Centers for disease Control (CDC) Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP) Vaccine Recommendations and Guidelines ( ). A vaccination may be listed as invalid if the: Vaccine was given before or after the recommended age. Vaccine was given too close to another dose in a series (interval between doses is too short).
Vaccine was a live vaccine and given too close to another live vaccine (closer than 28 days). Immunization Comments This section of the report shows you the comments entered by your provider. Comments can indicate several things, such as immunity to disease (for example, you had a blood titer that indicated you are immune to Hepatitis A), patient reported history of a disease (for example, you had varicella/chickenpox disease instead of the vaccine), medical exemptions (for example, you doctor has told you not to receive a certain vaccine), and vaccine refusals. Multiple comments can be listed in one Record . Understanding YOUR MIIC Immunization Record 3 Immunizations Recommended This section of your Record shows you what immunizations you will need in the future.
This section can help you schedule immunizations with your provider to make sure you stay up to date. MIIC uses the Immunization schedules set by CDC to see if you are up to date on your immunizations. The recommended date is when you should be given the next vaccination for that vaccine group. Frequently Asked Questions Question: My MIIC Immunization Report does not show all my Immunization records. Answer: Because MIIC was cre ate d in 2002, many adults do not have their childhood vaccine records in MIIC. Also, if you were vaccinated outside of Minnesota, that information may not be available in MIIC. Immunization information is not automatically transferred from one state to another when you move.
Refer to CDC s Contacts for Immunization Records ( #state) to find Immunization records from other states. If you have proof of vaccination, visit Find My Immunization Record ( ) for steps on how to get that information added to MIIC or contact your healthcare provider. For clinical advice on immunizations, contact your health care provider. Understanding YOUR MIIC Immunization Record 4 Q: MIIC recommends MMR, HepB, Varicella, HepA but I am an adult. A: MMR, HepB, Varicella, and HepA are recommended childhood vaccines. Because many adults do not have their childhood vaccination records in MIIC, MIIC may indicate that you are overdue for a vaccine when you are not. For clinical advice on immunizations, contact your health care provider.
Q: I am recommended for Td/Tdap but I received one in the last 10 years. A: Tdap is the vaccine that protects against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis in adolescents and adults. DTaP is the version for children. If people don t receive the full DTaP series of vaccines in childhood, a multi-shot series of Tdap is recommended. Because many adults do not have their childhood DTaP records in MIIC, your Record may indicate that you are overdue for a dose of Tdap vaccine when you are not. For clinical advice on immunizations, contact your health care provider.
