2 DCCA: Dubai Creative Clusters Authority 2. DAC: Dubai Accreditation Department (DAC) provides accreditation SERVICE to the inspection bodies that are performing inspection of various types of products and machines, for instance accreditation of inspection bodies for safety requirements in the fields of Lifting Equipment s, Elevators and Escalators, Pressure equipment s, Lifting Accessories, Scaffolding, Non Destructive Testing, Food testing etc. 3. DED: The Department of Economic Development is the government body entrusted to set and drive the economic agenda of the emirate of Dubai, UAE.

FACILITY : A relatively permanent enclosed construction over a plot of land, having a roof and usually windows and often more than one level, used for any of a wide variety of activities, as living, working, or manufacturing. Each FACILITY may also have additional unique characteristics beyond the basic information. 5. FACILITY MANAGEMENT : is the integration of processes and multi-disciplinary activities within the built environment to maintain and develop the agreed services which support and improve the effectiveness of its primary activities upon people and the workplace.

4 6. FACILITY MANAGEMENT (FM) services : Building-related obligatory services by DCCA. 7. FACILITY MANAGEMENT Contract: Comprehensive agreement covering facilities MANAGEMENT services between building owner and SERVICE provider that defines agreed obligations, accountabilities and clauses of both parties. 8. SERVICE provider: a company that is licensed by department of economy development to function in the city of Dubai and provide a specific FACILITY services in residential, industrial and special field facilities. 9. Representative: Individual authorized to act on behalf of building owner.

5 10. Common areas: spaces within or surrounding the FACILITY that is used by tenant or public. 11. Single contract: an agreement deal for specific arrangement under which a prime (single) contractor is accountable for the delivery and the accountability of all services . 12. Segment contract: an agreement deal for specific arrangement under which multiple contractors are accountable for the delivery and the accountability of different services . 13. Private residence: Residential property occupied for private usage. 14. Third party: Refers to a person or group of official body primarily licensed, certified or accredited to carry out certain activities assigned by SERVICE provider/ building owner.

6 15. Compliance visits: conformity visits by DCCA agents in order to ensure compliance with DCCA requirements. 16. Tenants: Individuals occupying a land or property rented from a landlord. 17. SLA: SERVICE -Level Agreement 18. Firefighting and fire alarm SERVICE provider: an approved company by Dubai Civil Defense to provide fire alarm and firefighting systems solution according to UAE FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY CODE OF PRACTICE and other international standards like The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). 19. LPG: Liquefied Petroleum Gas cylinders and ancillary fittings with NFPA 54 and 58 standards.

7 20. UAE FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY CODE OF PRACTICE: Referred as Civil Defense Fire Code recommends the Civil Defense minimum requirements for Life Safety and Fire Safety Design and Installation. Cleaning and Housekeeping SERVICE provider: professional company that provides cleaning services in the FACILITY and the surrounding areas. 23. MEP Systems SERVICE provider: professional company that provides mechanical, electrical and plumbing services .

8 24. Pest control SERVICE provider: an approved company by Dubai municipality from Public Health Pest Control Department to conduct pest control related activities. 25. Waste MANAGEMENT SERVICE provider: licensed company by Dubai Municipality with approved permits for the temporary storage source, collection and transport of municipal solid waste for proper treatment / disposal. 26. Vertical Transportation SERVICE provider: an approved company by Dubai accreditation center DAC to provide lifting equipment s and elevator installation, maintenance and inspection services .

9 27. Compliance folder: it is a set of documents that contains Permits, NOCs, Logs and etc. 28. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): Specialized clothing or equipment worn by employees for protection against health and safety hazards. Personal protective equipment is designed to protect many parts of the body, , eyes, head, face, hands, feet, and ears. 29. Hard services : services related to the actual fabric and building systems and might also be considered as the more traditional PM services Building fabric maintenance, Air conditioning maintenance, decoration & refurbishment, Lift & escalator maintenance, M&E plant maintenance, Fire safety system maintenance, Plumbing & drainage and Minor project MANAGEMENT .

10 30. Soft services : Cleaning, recycling, security, pest control, grounds maintenance, waste MANAGEMENT and irrigation services . 31. HVAC: Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) is the technology of indoor and vehicular environmental comfort. Its goal is to provide thermal comfort and acceptable indoor air quality. To comply with established FACILITY MANAGEMENT related regulations implemented in the Emirate of Dubai, and the Dubai Creative Clusters regulations, guidelines, policies and such other statutory requirements.
