2.3 Mass Spectrometry The most common mass analyzer paired with MALDI is the time-of-ight (TOF) mass spectrometer. MALDI produces ions in short bursts due to the use of a pulsed laser, and produces a wide variety of ion masses that require a detector with a broad mass range.
