On the one hand there is acute WATER scarcityand on the other, the streets are flooded during rains. This reflectsmanagerial inefficiency of the urban local bodies to use the surpluswater of the rainy season to overcome the deficiency in otherseasons. The current centralized WATER supply paradigm is definetlyunsustainable and extremely high on energy consumption. Theshortage of ground WATER gets more pronounced with urbanizationand limited open areas available for recharge of ground WATER . Watershortage may result in social conflicts, demonstrations, protests androad- blockades.
