National Electrical Code Introduction The NEC is updated on a 3-year cycle and receives several Public Inputs and Public Comments for the consideration in the approval of a 2/3 majority by the code making panel of a change to the appropriate article. This cycle had 3,730 Public Inputs that were considered by the 18 Code-Making Panels.
