“BEHIND-THE-WHEEL” DRIVING INSTRUCTION FAQs
behind -THE- wheel DRIVING INSTRUCTION . faqs WHO IS ELIGIBLE? Students 15 years or older who have a learner's license (or will have one within a week of starting the class), who have proof of automobile insurance, and who attend a Lake County public or private high school. District-registered Lake County home school students are also eligible. WHEN IS THE COURSE OFFERED? The course is offered after school or on Saturdays during the school year and during daylight hours in the summer. WHERE IS THE COURSE OFFERED? The course originates from one of Lake County's seven public high schools or from the Howey-in-the- Hills facility. HOW MUCH WILL IT COST? The Lake County School Board, in partnership with Lake County and the Lake County Board of County Commissioners, is offering scholarships for behind -the- wheel DRIVING classes to eligible Lake County high school students. Therefore, there will be no charge for the 10 hours of behind -the- wheel training and the 20 hours of DRIVING observation.
All Behind-the-Wheel Driving instructors are Lake County teachers who have received special training in driver’s education and have been certified by the State of Florida’s Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle
