CHAPTER 21 MASONRY SECTION 2101 GENERAL Scope The provisions of this CHAPTER shall govern the materials, design , construction and quality of MASONRY . Exception: Buildings and structures located within the High Velocity Hurricane Zone shall comply with the provisions of 2116 and 2118 through 2122. MASONRY shall comply with or Construction documents. Drawings and details shall show all the items required to be shown on the drawings by this code including the following: 1. Specified size, grade, type and location of reinforce-ment, anchors and wall ties. 2. Reinforcing bars to be welded and welding procedure. 3. Size and location of all structural elements. 4. Provision for dimensional changes resulting from elas-tic deformation, creep, shrinkage, temperature and moisture. Support Lintels. MASONRY directly above chases or recesses wider than 12 inches (305 mm) shall be support-ed on lintels.
