La Ni a is likely (~85-95%) through Northern Hemisphere winter, with a transition to ENSO-neutral expected during the spring.
Most recent pentad analysis During the last two months, positive and negative subsurface temperature anomalies have shifted eastward. Positive subsurface temperature anomalies have shifted eastward to 130ºW and remain at depth, while negative anomalies have contracted to the eastern Pacific and remain persistent from~200m to the surface.
