MBOMBELA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY . CREDIT CONTROL AND DEBT COLLECTION POLICY AND BY-LAW. (Explanatory Note: This policy is applicable to MBOMBELA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY only. In terms of Section 80 of the LOCAL Government: Municipal Systems Act, 32 of 2000, the MUNICIPALITY may enter into service delivery agreements with service providers to provide municipal services to customers. In such instances the internal credit control and debt collection policies of those entities may differ from this policy, but shall always be subject to the promulgated Credit Control and Debt Collection By-Laws.). 1. Objectives The objectives of the policy are to: a. Provide a framework within which the municipal council can exercise its executive and legislative authority with regard to credit control and debt collection;. b. Ensure that all monies due and payable to the MUNICIPALITY are collected and used to deliver municipal services in the best interests of the community, residents and ratepayers and in a financially sustainable manner1.
