X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) could be utilized to indicate the evolution of the coordination environment during the synthesis process. For example, Corma et al. determined the reversible transformation from Pt single atoms to nanoparticles supported on high-silica chabazite zeolite by the combination of in situ XAFS and XANES [43].
