Antenna Here is a Dipole You've probably heard this phrase in many QSOs. Just what is a dipole antenna, and why are they so popular? By James W. ("Bus") Healy, NJ2L Assistant Technical Editor ipole antennas have been widely used since the early days of radio. Simplicity and effectiveness for a wide range of communications needs are

wave or 5/8 wave two meter mobile antenna? It’s a cylinder about 2 to 3 inches tall and about an inch round. Within that gizmo is the 50 ohm to Hi Z matching device. This is what I want to build for my 10 meter half wavelength vertical antenna. I read about RF tuned circuits in the ARRL radio handbook. I found that parallel tuned

A beam type of antenna at a height of 70 feet or more will provide greatly superior performance over the same antenna at 35 feet, all other factors being equal. A height of 120 feet

ANTENNA BASICS very ham needs at least one antenna, and most hams have built one. This chapter, by Chuck Hutchinson, K8CH, covers theory and construction of antennas for most radio amateurs. Here you’ll find simple verticals and dipoles, as well as quad and Yagi projects and other antennas that you can build and use.

An 80-10 end-fed half-wave antenna can be a very good performing part of an HF station. But its performance depends heavily on a well-designed and carefully constructed 49:1 unun, which matches the long wire impedance to within tuning range of operation. But the perfor-mance of an end-fed antenna is also very dependent on height above ground.
