3 General Safety Rules WARNING! Read all instructions Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in serious injury. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. 1. Work area safety a. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. b. Do not operate tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. c. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control. 2. Personal safety a. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating tools. Do not use tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating tools may result in serious personal injury. b. Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce per- sonal injuries.

4 C. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the tool in unexpected situations. d. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. 3. Power tool use and care a. Do not force the tool. Use the correct tool for your application. The correct tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. b. Store idle tools out of the reach of children and do not allow people unfamiliar with the tool or these instructions to operate the tool. Tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. c. Maintain tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the tool's operation. If damaged, have the tool repaired before use. Have your tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the tool is maintained. Specific Safety Rules 1. WARNING Do not exceed the maximum lift capacity (1-1/2 tons/3,000. pounds). Overloading the jack could cause serious personal injury and/or property damage. 2. This FLOOR jack is designed for intermittent use only. Do not use the jack to support a vehicle over extended periods of time. The duration of the lifting job should be kept as short as possible. 3. Prior to using the FLOOR jack , make sure to read and understand all warnings, safety precautions, and instructions as outlined in the vehicle manufacturer's instruction manual . 4. Do not work under a vehicle without properly supporting the vehicle with jack stands (not included).

6 Make sure the load and jack stands are stable before getting under a vehicle. 5. Make sure the FLOOR jack is used only on a dry, oil/grease free, flat, level, ground surface capable of supporting the weight of the vehicle being lifted and any additional tools and equipment. 6. Use the FLOOR jack only on vehicles whose frames have lifting points (on its seam or frame) capable of aligning with the Saddle (2) of the jack . 7. When lifting only one wheel, make sure to support the load immediately with one jack stand placed under the side of the vehicle being lifted. Align the saddle of the jack stand directly under the vehicle's seam (recommended lifting point). 8. When lifting the entire front end or rear end of a vehicle, make sure to support the load immediately with two jack stands. Align the saddles of the jack stands directly under the vehicle's frame (recommended lifting points). Also, make sure the jack stands are adjusted at the same height. 9. Do not use the FLOOR jack with the vehicle's engine running.

7 Make sure to place the vehicle's transmission in PARK (if automatic) or 1st GEAR (if manual ). Then set the emergency brake, and chock the tires opposite the tire being lifted. 10. Avoid dangerous oncoming traffic. Always use the FLOOR jack as far away from the roadside as possible. 11. Industrial applications must follow OSHA requirements. Remain clear of the vehicle being raised or lowered. 13. Use extreme caution when applying or releasing a load. Never allow the load to suddenly release. Slowly and carefully release the load. 14. Do not allow anyone in the vehicle while using the FLOOR jack . Keep all bystanders a safe distance away from the vehicle. 15. Never leave the FLOOR jack unattended when the jack is under a load. 16. Never support both ends of a vehicle at the same time. 17. Before lowering the FLOOR jack , make sure tool trays, jack stands, and all other tools and equipment are removed from under the vehicle.

8 18. If changing a damaged tire, it is easier to loosen the lug nuts slightly before raising the tire off the ground. 19. Maintain labels and nameplates on the tool. These carry important safety information. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replacement. 20. This product is not a toy. Keep it out of reach of children. 21. Align the snap lock hole at the open end of the Lower Handle (22) with the spring loaded push button lock (not shown) on the Handle Connector (53).

10 Push the handle until it is locked in position. with a 4 mm hexagonal wrench (not supplied), retighten the hexagonal head cap screw which secures the upper handle to the Handle Connector (53). Back off the Handle Set Screw (46) at the back of the Handle Yoke (60), insert the square drive end of the handle into the Yoke and rotate the handle until it aligns with the square drive of the Valve Release (not shown) and bottom out inside the Handle Yoke (60). To install the three AA Alkaline or rechargable Batteries (not included) for the LED lights, unscrew and remove the Battery Case Screw (57) located on the underside of the FLOOR jack . Remove the Case Cover (58). Then install the three Batteries in the Battery Case (56), making sure to match the polarity of each Battery with the polarity shown on the inside of the Battery Case.
