2 Then we will be your servants. Rehoboamdidn t know how to said, Give me three days to thinkabout it. Rehoboam asked his father sadvisors what to said, Listen to the people andtake away some of the hard work and hightaxes. Rehoboam also asked his richfriends what he should said, Make the people workharder and pay more taxes. Rehoboamdecided to follow this he told the leaders of Israel, Youwill work harder and pay more taxes to methan you did for my father. The 10 tribes of Israel didn t like theanswer Rehoboam gave them. They saidthat Jeroboam, Solomon s servant, wouldbe their king . God s words to Solomon hadcome true. Solomon s kingdom was splitinto two stayed king over twotribes.

3 He ruled in the southern part ofSolomon s kingdom . His kingdom wascalled Judah. Jeroboam became the kingover the other 10 tribes of Israel. He ruledover the northern part of Solomon skingdom. His kingdom was called was a bad king . He didnot follow the Lord and do what He said. Jeroboam made two golden calves for thepeople to worship. He put one in the cityof Dan and the other in Bethel. He did notwant the people in Israel to go toJerusalem to worship in the temple. Jeroboam led the people of Israel awayfrom the true God to worship idols. Because Jeroboam led the people awayfrom the Lord, the Lord said that bad thingswould happen to Jeroboam s family.

4 Rehoboam also was a bad king . Hedid not follow the Lord. He made idols forthe people in Judah. They put idols on thehills and in the trees.
