2 1. Activity Page What You Need: How Many? activity page, markers or crayons What You Do: Invite preschoolers to count the people and then draw a line to divide them into two groups. What You Say: There are 12 people in this picture, and you Divided them into two groups. Israel was made up of 12 tribes, but something happened in today s Bible story that made Israel separate into two kingdoms. Let s discover what happened. 2. Stare Down What You Need: Two chairs What You Do: Set up two chairs facing each other. Select a preschooler to sit in each chair.

3 Explain to both preschoolers that they must stare at each other and not look away. Tell the other preschoolers in the group that their task is to try to make the children in the chairs look away from each other. They may do whatever they want to try to get the attention of the children in the chairs except touch them. The child who stares the longest without looking away is the winner. Select two more preschoolers and play again as time allows. What You Say: Not turning away was difficult. In today s story, King solomon s wives caused him to turn away from God.

Motions for many of our songs are provided on the volunteer website check with your campus Loop Coordinator if you need help finding and/or learning song motions. 1. Music Chose 3 4 songs from the Worship DVD to be played through the computer or TV located in your classroom. LEADER: Before songs, ask the children: Why do we sing to God? ( Answer: To honor Him with our worship!) 2. Memory Verse LEADER: This is God s Word, the Bible! (Hold up a Bible for children to see).

6 Why do we read the Bible? (Answer: To know God s Word in our hearts!) . Now let s learn this month s memory verse that comes from God s Word. The Lord gives wisdom (point index finger up towards Heaven, then open your hands like a book) from His mouth (cup your hands around your mouth) comes knowledge (point right index finger to right temple) and understanding . (point left index finger to left temple) Proverbs 2:6 (open your hands like a book) Practice the verse with the kids two or three times. 3. Offering Pass around the offering bag or bucket to collect any offering for today.

7 LEADER: Why do we collect offering? (Answer: To pass the good things God has given us to others!) 4. Video Play this week s Gospel Project Bible video. 9 Worship & Lesson time in prayer. Application Activities (40 minutes) 1. Match Paper Pieces What You Need: Construction paper, tape What You Do: Tear different colored sheets of construction paper into two pieces. Hide the construction paper pieces around the room. Invite preschoolers to find the hidden pieces and then match up a piece with its torn counterpart. Invite preschoolers to tape the pieces back together. What You Say: These pieces of paper were torn and separated, but you put them back together. King solomon sinned, and God split Israel into two kingdoms.

10 But God planned to bring His people back together. One day, God would send His own Son, Jesus, to be King, not just King of Israel but King of the entire world. Jesus is a perfect King who brings God s people together. 2. Play The Farmer In The Dell What You Need: The Farmer in the Dell lyric printable What You Do: Play this classic children s game. Select a farmer to stand in the middle. Invite preschoolers to join hands and move in a circle around the farmer while singing. At the end of the first verse, the farmer chooses a wife, who joins him inside the circle.
