2 Your eligibility to laterally transfer into the SSA classification will be determined by the Office of Human Resources upon receipt of the completed STAFF SERVICES ANALYST ( general ) Request for Transfer Exam (HR-101). Applicants who are eligible to transfer and who have not taken the examination in the last six (6) months may apply for this examination. Cut-Off Dates and Timely Filing Completed HR-101s are accepted continuously throughout the year and will be processed during the administration period following the cut-off dates listed below: February 17, 2021 STAFF SERVICES ANALYST ( general ) Transfer Examination Bulletin Revision Date: 7/13/2021 May 18, 2021 August 17, 2021 November 15, 2021 HR-101s must be received or postmarked no later than the cut-off date listed above.

3 HR-101s postmarked after the cut-off date or received via hand delivery or interagency mail after 5:00 on the cut-off date will be held and processed in the next administration period. Postmark dates printed on Mobile Bar Codes, such as the Quick Response (QR) Codes available at the USPS, are not considered postmark dates for the purpose of determining timely filing. 4 The Examination SERVICES Unit will contact you to make special testing arrangements. WRITTEN EXAMINATION SCHEDULE This examination is given quarterly at DCA s Headquarters in Sacramento. Other locations may be scheduled as the number of candidates and conditions warrant. The testing months are: March, June, September, and December If you are eligible to transfer, you will be invited to take the written examination. A notice to appear will be sent to you 10 business days prior to the test date. The notice will provide the details including the scheduled date, time, and location to appear. EXAMINATION SCOPE Written Examination Weighted 100% STAFF SERVICES ANALYST ( general ) Transfer Examination Bulletin Revision Date: 7/13/2021 This examination will consist of a written examination and is the sole component of the examination.

5 You will receive a pass/fail score and the result of your written examination is maintained indefinitely. The examination will measure the following: Quantitative Analysis: Skills in the area of algebraic, geometric, and statistical problem solving. Data Analysis and Interpretation: Skill in reading, interpreting and applying written information. Workload Management/Project Management Scenarios: Ability to effectively handle a variety of situations related to the planning and organizing of projects and work assignments. You will be provided with a calculator during the examination. PREPARING FOR THE EXAMINATION You may reference and review the study guide provided by the California Department of Human Resources: STAFF SERVICES ANALYST Written Transfer Examination.

6 The study guide also includes sample test questions. SALARY RANGES Range A: $3, - $4, per month. This range shall apply to those individuals who do not meet the criteria for Range B or Range C. Range B: $3, - $4, per month. This range shall apply to persons who have satisfactorily completed the equivalent to six months of STAFF SERVICES ANALYST ( general ) or STAFF SERVICES ANALYST , Fair Political Practices Commission, or Management SERVICES Technician (Range B), and may apply to persons who have the equivalent of six months of satisfactory experience outside of state service performing analytical personnel, budget, or administrative duties similar to those of a STAFF SERVICES ANALYST . Range C: $4, - $5, per month. This range shall apply to persons who have graduated from a recognized four-year accredited college or university; or who satisfactorily completed the equivalent of 12 months of STAFF SERVICES ANALYST (Range B) or STAFF SERVICES ANALYST , Fair Political Practices Commission (Range B), experience; and may apply to persons who have the equivalent of 18 months of satisfactory experience outside the state service performing analytical personnel, budget, or administrative duties similar to those of STAFF SERVICES ANALYST ( general ).
