1 Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and Tourism, Heritage and Culture Artist-in-Residency School Program ( anglophone School District) ARTIST REGISTRY Revised: August 28, 2018 2 Artist-in-Residency School Program The Artist-in-Residency School Program funds art projects which are based on curricular outcomes within the Fine Arts and is a collaboration between one or more teachers and one or more artists. This Program is jointly funded by the Departments of Education and Early Childhood Development and Tourism, Heritage and Culture. The Artist-in-Residency School Program places professional artists in rural and urban schools to broaden and develop the arts education Program by bringing together the creative potential of students and the unique energy of artists.

2 It is intended to provide students and their teachers with the opportunity to spend a minimum of three days (minimum of 15 hours) working closely with artists in order to enhance the students artistic perception and appreciation. The residencies can include any of the arts disciplines (music, visual arts, writing, theatre, cinema, dance, etc.). The artist and the teacher shall work in close collaboration in order to plan and carry out the project to ensure that the artistic activity corresponds to curriculum based outcomes within the Fine Arts. The general objectives of this Program are to encourage students to express themselves and to think creatively and critically through education in the arts.

5 New Brunswick. The company has estab-lished itself as an educational forum for audiences and students alike, offering workshops, working in schools with students and teachers, artist talks and professional development for both local and visiting artists. Connection Dance Works creates new work, collaborates with multi-disciplinary artists, and pre-sents dance on regular basis. The company was awarded The Originals Saint John Award for Per-forming Arts (Dance), performed at Contact East in Charlottetown and recently premiered new compa-ny work with far arms at the Imperial Theatre. Residency Project Through the teaching of creative movement and dance improvisation, dance can be easily integrat-ed throughout any curriculum (Language, dramatic arts, science, ).

6 We are constantly working to grow dance education and audience knowledge in the province and believe that through involving stu-dents in creation processes and then helping to create a dialogue around these experiences we can achieve these goals. It is vitally important to help students understand the reality that they them-selves can create new and exciting dance and art here in New Brunswick. Teaching Experience All of our dancers have experience teaching both in a studio setting and in the classroom. Connection Dance Works has worked with elementary and high School students integrating dance across the curric-ulum.

7 We have also brought in professional instruc-tors from around the country and constructed cur-riculums for local participants to engage in. Togeth-er, we bring years of dance experience to the class-room and our knowledge of style and form is com-prehensive. 8 She began her dance training at the age of five and con-tinued ballet studies until the age of ten at the Kiev State Ballet Academy. After graduating, she joined the State Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Kiev. After-wards she worked throughout Europe as a profes-sional ballet dancer. In 2002 Yuliia joined the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada now Atlantic Ballet Atlantique Canada. From 2007-2011 Yuliia contributed her talents to District 2 High School production as a choreogra-pher. Since 2011 Yuliia works as a Principal of Ballet /Dance Division at School of Atlantic Ballet. Residency Project Ballet for Kindergarten students, develops compe-tency in a variety of movement concepts and kines-thetic skills with different diverse range in dance.

9 The class is divided in 4 sections: beginning, floor exercise, dance routine, and finale. In every class I use music. It s an important compo-nent in my classes. Kids absorb information better with music. They learn to recognize different rhythm and tempo. In class students work on: awareness of body parts (feet, legs, head, arms), balance, flexibility, coordi-nation, posture, stamina, awareness of space; and musicality. Teaching Experience Yuliia has teaching experience in Canada and Eu-rope since 1998. Yuliia has taught kids 3 years old and up. She has been a ballet teacher and choreographer at ballet schools and an instructor and artistic consultant for rhythmic gymnastics groups in Europe and Cana-da.

10 As well, she has offered ballet master classes, workshops and summer schools in British Colum-bia, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and New Brunswick, where she worked with large groups of students. Over 5 years, from 2007- 2011 she worked with District 2 Musical production. 2013-2018 she ran a Pilot project Ballet in School with approximately 60-85 students. DANCE CONTACT Address: 611 Dover Rd.
