This directive applies to the Air Reserve Command and Air National Guard. It assigns responsibilities and provides guidance and procedures on the planning, documentation, funding and other acti ons associated with the movement of Air FORCE cargo in support of peacetime, exercise, humanitarian and contingency operations.

3 It also prescribes uniform procedures that govern packaging requirements IAW Department of Defense (DOD) , DOD Supply Chain Materiel Management Regulation, AFMAN 24-206_IP_IP, Packaging of Materiel and MIL-STD-2073-1, Standard Practice for Military Packaging during shipment, handling and storage of materiel. Foreign country laws and Defense Cooperation Agreements (DECA)/Status of Forces Agreements (SOFA) may limit or slightly modify the application of this INSTRUCTION . The objectives of this INSTRUCTION are to empower Logistics Readiness Squadron Commanders (LRS/CC)/Aerial Port Squadron Commanders (APS/CC) and Small Air Terminal Operations 2 AFI24-203_HOLLOMANAFBSUP_I 15 MAY 2012 Manager with authority and responsibility to meet the cargo preparation and movement needs of their customers, to identify references, and to provide necessary procedural guidance.

4 This INSTRUCTION applies to Air FORCE total FORCE unit personnel who prepare, certify, handle, ship and store materiel. It promotes continuously improved standard practices, simplified operations, recycling procedures and environmental awareness. Attachment 1 lists references, acronyms, terms, and other supporting information used in this INSTRUCTION . If a conflict exists between the DTR and information contained in this INSTRUCTION , the DTR will take precedence. Refer recommended changes and questions about this publication to the Office of Primary Responsibility (OPR) using the AF IMT 847, Recommendation for Change of Publication; route AF IMT 847s from the field through the appropriate functional s chain of command.

5 Field activities must send implementing publications to the higher headquarters functional OPR for review and coordination before publishing. No waivers may be granted for any part of the publication. Ensure that all records created as a result of processes prescribed in this publication are maintained in accordance with AFMAN 33-363, Management of Records, and disposed of in accordance with the Air FORCE Records Disposition Schedule (RDS) located at The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1974 as amended in 1996 affects this INSTRUCTION .

(HOLLOMANAFB) Air FORCE INSTRUCTION (AFI) 24-203 , Preparation and Movement of Air FORCE Cargo, is supplemented as follows: This INSTRUCTION applies to all Holloman AFB personnel who prepare, certify, handle, ship, transport and store Department of Defense (DoD) owned/sponsored supplies and equipment, to include Arms, Ammunition and Explosives (AA&E), classified, sensitive/controlled, and aircraft engines.

7 It also applies to either direct or indirect customers utilizing the supply management and distribution functions of Holloman AFB. It assigns responsibilities and provides guidance and procedures on the planning, documentation, funding and other actions associated with the movement of Air FORCE cargo in support of peacetime, exercise, humanitarian and contingency operations. It also prescribes uniform procedures that govern packaging requirements in accordance with (IAW) DoD , DoD Supply Chain Materiel Management Regulation, AFMAN 24-206 Interservice Publication (IP), Packaging of Materiel and MIL-STD-2073-1D, Standard Practice for Military Packaging during shipment, handling and storage of materiel.

8 The objectives of this INSTRUCTION are to empower 49th Logistics Readiness Squadron Commanders (49 LRS/CC) with authority and responsibility to meet the cargo preparation and movement needs of their customers, to identify references, and to provide necessary procedural guidance. It promotes continuously improved standard practices, simplified operations, recycling procedures and environmental awareness. Moreover, proper packaging ensures protection and performance of critical Air FORCE spare parts and maximizes the life cycle of materiel to accomplish mission support objectives.

9 Ensure that all records created as a result of processes prescribed in this publication are maintained IAW Air FORCE Manual 33-363, Management of Records, and disposed of IAW Air FORCE Records Information Management System (AFRIMS) Records Disposition Schedule (RDS) located at AFI24-203_HOLLOMANAFBSUP_I 15 MAY 2012 3 Contact supporting records managers as required.
