2 It also implements Title 10 United States Code 9315 and 9317, Community college of the Air FORCE , Department of Defense, and Air FORCE directives for the administration of the 1954 federal policy on accreditation of federally chartered degree-granting institutions. In collaboration with the Chief of Air FORCE Reserve and the Director of the Air National Guard, the Deputy Chief of Staff for Manpower, Personnel and Services develops policy for the Community college of the Air FORCE (CCAF). This publication may be supplemented at any level; all MAJCOM supplements must be approved by the Human Resource Management Strategic Board (HSB) prior to certification and approval.

3 This INSTRUCTION requires collecting and maintaining information subject to the Privacy Act of 1974 authorized by Title 10, United States Code, Section 8013, and Public Law 94-361. System of Records F036 Air Education and Training Command L, Community college of the Air FORCE Student Transcript, Administration, and Records System, applies. Refer recommended changes and corrections to this publication to the Office of Primary Responsibility using the Air FORCE Form 847, Recommendation for Change of Publication; route Air FORCE Form 847 from the field through major command to the Office of Primary Responsibility.

4 The authorities to waive wing-/unit-level requirements in this publication are identified with a Tier ( T-0, T-1, T-2, T-3 ). number following the compliance statement. See AFI 33-360, Publications and Forms Management, for a description of the authorities associated with the Tier numbers. Submit requests for waivers through the chain of command to the appropriate Tier waiver approval authority, or alternately, to the Publication Office of Primary Responsibility for non-tiered compliance items. This document has been substantially revised and needs to be completely reviewed. This revision updates the CCAF mission statement, to include professional growth for the Air FORCE Enlisted Corps and removed items in paragraph 6.

6 It adds information pertaining to Air Education and Training Commander's directive to align the CCAF educational goals and objectives with the Air FORCE 's FORCE Development objectives. Additionally, it updates all references from certifications to credentials to align with the implementation of Air FORCE Credentialing Opportunities On-Line Program, changed requirements in paragraph 8 for Program Managers to hold their specialty- related CCAF Associate in Applied Science degree, clarified paragraph 9 for the role the student academic Advisors as liaisons for graduations, deleted duplicative affiliation requirements in paragraph 10, updated paragraph changing waiver to exception to policy.

7 Added paragraph 14 to include the Air FORCE Credentialing Opportunities On-Line Program, and made minor typographical, grammatical and punctuation changes. AFI36-2648 28 MARCH 2018 3. Chapter 1. OVERVIEW. This publication provides directive guidance on the mission and responsibilities of the college . It identifies CCAF-related responsibilities of the Air Education and Training Command Commander, Air University Commander, Barnes Center Commander, and CCAF Commandant;. responsibilities of Program Managers for degrees and credentials; responsibilities of the education services system; responsibilities incurred by affiliation with the college ; and program eligibility.

8 In addition of offering the Associate in Applied Science degree, CCAF is the focal point for developing, managing, and administering professional credentialing programs supporting the enhancement of mission readiness, professional development, and career transition of Air FORCE enlisted Airmen. CCAF Mission. Offer and award job-related Associate in Applied Science degrees and other academic credentials that enhance mission readiness, contribute to recruiting, assist in retention, and support the career transition and professional growth of the Air FORCE Enlisted Corps.

9 4 AFI36-2648 28 MARCH 2018. Chapter 2. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Commander, Air Education and Training Command (AETC/CC). The Air Education and Training Command Commander provides oversight and guidance to the Air University Commander with respect to CCAF. Air FORCE /A1, Secretary of the Air FORCE /Reserve Affairs and Airman Readiness (MRR), and the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air FORCE advises the Air Education and Training Command Commander concerning overarching CCAF goals and objectives to help align program outcomes with Air FORCE FORCE Development objectives.

10 Commander, Air University (AU/CC). The Air University Commander is the CCAF. governing authority. In this capacity the Air University Commander: Confers degrees upon graduates of the college . Assigns the Barnes Center Commander responsibility for governing the college . Establishes policies to include academic programs, accreditation, operations, philosophy, institutional mission, vision, and effectiveness. Air University Board of Visitors. The board represents the public interests and advises the Air University Commander, Barnes Center Commander, and CCAF Commandant, as specified in the Air University Board of Visitors charter, on matters pertaining to the management and operation of the college .
