We were fortunate in that we were never restricted from getting day, I was either down on the beach, or hiking in the woods. My fitness level improved to km hikes with my dog and 2 or 3 socially distancing hiking can t travel, but I am participating in an online virtual Camino de Santiago challenge daily.

Next I think I will do the Ring of LambertI created a Gingerbread House Competition to virtually connect with my daughters and granddaughters across the continent over the holidays. Thanks to technology, we came together from Juneau, Alaska; Franklin, Tennessee; Portland, Oregon; Calgary, Alberta; Ottawa, Ontario; and Brossard, Quebec. Unanimously, it is agreed that, COVID or no COVID, we will do this again next year!Vincent VermetteI started my retirement from CIBC in February 2020, just as the pandemic was taking hold. I said goodbye to my retirement plans of travel, gym, courses, etc. I m a passionate handyman. I came up with an idea to make wooden children s toys. My first attempts included a drawing-puzzle made of bare wood for Laurent, my grandson (see photo).

Now, I m making toy learning kits for kindergarten at the Duverger school, a school that I helped build in Haiti. My goal is to make free wooden toys for children in need in my F Hilary (Larry) Waters I started a blog. This is the welcome page that describes its COVID motivated genesis. RetireeNews 20215 Margaret NeweyBefore the pandemic, my retirement life was full of sewing clubs, sewing classes, Quilt Guild and regular lunches with my retired friends. I was just finishing a quilt I made for my great niece in England before the lockdown (see photo). Sewing was not essential, so everything came to a sudden halt. Many sewing stores have since re-opened their classrooms for virtual learning via Zoom. I ve been attending virtual sewing classes from different locations across North America.

I currently have sixteen classes on the go! I m also looking forward to resuming pre-pandemic retirement activities Panayiotopoullos I am very lucky to have my family. On Sundays, we cook together. My two sons (22 and 20) have turned out to be the better cooks. My husband and I are the designated tasters. People who know me, also know that every weekend year round, we used to get together and celebrate with our extended family (sisters, brothers and friends). We miss them a lot, but we stay connected via Facetime and we celebrate a little differently. We encourage each other. We have to stay positive. We must stay together!Diane Campeau The pandemic made me discover a new passion during the winter. We started to cross-country ski as a family and really enjoyed it.

It really is a great sport and a great family activity. During the summer period, I cycle a lot. I keep in touch with my friends and family through technology. I can t wait to get back to normal, but the pandemic has still brought positive things. Doris Britski I have been so grateful to have my cat to get me through this past year. I also thought everyone should have a cat during a lockdown, so I made 30 handstitched wool cat bookmarks to send to family and friends. I also made a group of cat dolls for myself. My favourite is Willie Cat based on Willie Nelson. I ve also spent time painting, using paint-by-number kits. These are just some of my activities that have kept me busy during the RetireeNews 20216 Pandemic Diaries Retiree stories and photosMaureen PhelanIt wasn t long after the pandemic started that the boredom and the itch to be busier hit me.
