The FAC s Creating with the Masters curriculum introduces children to the works of master and modern artists and teaches them about the history of art, museums, and art techniques while meeting the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Fine Arts: Visual Arts guidelines. This CLASS will focus on the concept of surface and play with the idea of using a three-dimensional medium as a canvas. Combining the use of clay and various surface treatments, students will think and experience 2 and 3-D artwork in a new and different way. Designed to mimic the Drawing & Painting audition, students will participate in three still-life drawing sessions followed by group critiques. Drawing sessions will function exactly like the traditional Quartz Mountain auditions, wherein students create a single observational still life drawing over a one-hour period. Group discussions will center around composition lessons, medium usage, and time management techniques. This Practice Audition is not affiliated with OSAI, and as such, does not guarantee admission to the Oklahoma Summer Arts | WINTER 2019 WINTER 2019 | 13 ADULT CLASSESOVERVIEWFIREHOUSE ART CENTER ADULT ART EDUCATIONA dult programming at the Firehouse includes weekly courses and individual workshops focusing on a variety of mediums, including painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, photography, glass, and more. Adult courses are for individuals ages 17 and older, and focus on developing self-expression, building technical skills, and art history and master artist education, with particular attention given to the individual needs of the students. The FAC s adult students come from diverse backgrounds and careers, with skill levels varying from beginner to professional artist.
