This career F ield Education and Training Plan is a comprehensive e ducation and training document identifying life-cycle education and training requirements, training support resources, and the minimum cor e t ask requirements for this specialty.

3 The C FETP will provide personne l a clear career path to success and instill rigor in all aspects of c areer field training. NOTE: C ivilians occupying associated positions may use P art II to support duty position qualification training. 2. CFETP Par ts. The C FETP consists of two parts and supervisors will plan, mana ge, a nd control training within this specialty using both parts of the plan. Part I provides information necessary for overall mana gement of the s pecialty. Section A: Explains how everyone will use the plan. Section B: Ide ntifies career field progression information, duties and responsibilities, training strategies, and career f ield path. Section C: Associates each leve l with specialty qualifications (knowledge, education, experience, training, a nd other). Section D: Indicates r esource c onstraints. Some e xa mples are funds, manpower, e quipment, facilities. Section E: Identifies transition training guide requirements for SSgt throug h MSgt.

4 Part II will be used by unit level supervisors and trainers to identify, plan, and conduct training commensurate w ith the overall goals of t his plan. Section A: Identifies the Specialty Training Standard (STS) and includes duties, tasks, technical referenc es to support training, Air Education and Training Command (AETC) conducted training, cor e t ask and correspondenc e c ourse r equirements. Section B: Contains the course objective list and training standards which supervisors will use to de termine if Airman satis fied training requirements. Section C: Ide ntifies available support materials. An example is a Qualif ication Training P ackage (QTP) which may be deve loped to support proficiency training. Section D: Identifies a training course index supervisors can use to determine resources available to 1 2 support training, including both mandatory and optional courses. Section E: Identifies MAJCOM unique training requirements supervisors can use to determine additional training required for the associated qualification needs.

This plan will enable us to effectively train today's work for ce. ABBREVIATIONS/TERMS EXPLAINED: Advanced T raining (AT). For mal c our se which provides individuals who are qualified in one or more positions of their Air For ce S pecialty (AFS) with additional skills/knowledge to enhance their expertise in the career field. Training is for s elected career Airmen at the advanced leve l of the A FS. Air FORCE T raining Recor d ( AFTR). An internet application that is accessible from any .mil or .c om location via Advanced Distributed Learning System. AFTR is designed to track career field mana gement for all Active Duty, Air FORCE R eserve, a nd Air N ational Guard personnel. Air FORCE Job Qualification S tandard/Command Job Qualificat ion S tandard (AFJQS/CJQS).

6 A comprehensive task list that describes a particular job type or duty position . Supervisors use the AFJQS/CJQS to document task qualif ications. The tasks on AFJQS/CJQS are common to all pe rsons serving in the described duty position . career Field Educat ion a nd T raining Plan ( CFETP ). A CFETP is a c omprehensive, multipurpose document covering the entire s pectrum of e ducation and training for a c areer field. Core T ask. Tasks the A ir For ce C areer F ield Mana ger (AFCFM) identify as minimum qualification requirement s for everyone within an AFSC, r egardless of duty position . Additionally, c ore t asks are any tasks identified by highe r Headquarters f or personnel to perform during de ployments, contingenc ies, or w artime. Cor e tasks may be s pecified for a particular skill level or in gene ral across the A FSC. Guidanc e f or using core t asks can be found in the a pplicable CFETP narrative. Course Objective L ist (COL).

7 A publication derived from initial and adv anced skills course training standards. Ide ntifies the t asks and knowledg e requirements and respective standards to achieve a 3-/7-skill level in this career f ield. Supervisors use the C OL to assist in conducting graduate evaluations in accordanc e with AFI 36-2201, Air FORCE Training Prog ram. Exportable T raining. Additional training via c omputer assisted, paper t ext, interactive video, or other necessary means to supplement training. Field T echnical Training (Type 4 ). Special or regular on-site t raining conducted by a f ield training de tachment (FTD) or b y a mobile t raining team. Initial Skills Training. A for mal in-resident course that results in award of the 3-skill level. Instructional System Development (ISD). A deliberate and orderly pr oc ess for developing, va lidating, and reviewing instructional prog rams that ensures personnel are t aught the knowledge and skills essential for successful job perfor mance.

8 3 Occupational Surve y Repor t (OSR). A detailed report showing the results of an occupational survey of t asks performed within a particular A FS. On-the-Job T raining (OJT). Hands-on, over-the-shoulder t raining conducted to certify personnel in both upgrade (skill level award) and job qualification (duty position certification) training. Qualification T raining (QT). Hands-on perfor manc e training de signe d to qualify personnel in a specific position . This training occur s both during and after u pgrade training to maintain up-to- date qualifications. Qualification T raining Package (QTP). An instructional packa ge designed for use a t the unit to qualify, or aid qualification, in a duty position or program, or on a piece of e quipment. It may be pr inted, computer-based, or in other audiovisual media. Resource Constraints. Resource deficienc ies, suc h as money, f acilities, time, manpower, a nd equipment that preclude desired training from being de livered.

9 Skills Training. A formal course that results in the award of a skill level. Specialty Training. A mix of formal training (technical school) and informal training (on-the- job) to qualif y and upgrade Airman in the award of a skill level. Specialty Training Standard ( STS). An Air FORCE publication that describe s skills and knowledge that Airman in a p articular Air For ce specialty needs on the job. It f urther s erves as a contract be tween the Air Education and Training Command and the user t o show the overall training requirements for a n Air F orce s pecialty code that the formal schools teach. Standard. An established and defined practice or procedure used in measuring results. Tot al For ce. All collective Air FORCE c omponents (active, r eserve , guard, and civilian elements) of the United States Air F orce. Training Requirements Analysis. A detaile d ana lysis of tasks for a p articular A FS to be included in the training decision process.

10 Training Setting. The type of forum in which training is provided (formal resident school, on-the job, field training, mobile t raining team, self-study etc.) . Upgr ade T raining (UGT). Training tha t leads to the award of a highe r skill level. Utili zation and T raining Workshop ( U&TW). A forum of the career f ield manager , MAJCOM functional mana gers, Subject Matter E xperts (SMEs), and AETC t raining personnel that determines career ladder t raining requirements. Section A General Informat ion 1. Purpose. This CFETP provides the information necessary for Air F orce C areer F ield Mana gers (AFCFM), MAJCOM Functional Managers (MFM), commanders, training mana gers, supervisors and trainers t o plan, develop, mana ge, and conduct an effective a nd efficient career f ield training program. The plan outlines the t raining individuals in this AFS should receive in order to deve lop 4 and progress throughout their career . This plan ide ntifies initial skills, upgrade, qualif ication, advanced and proficiency training.
